It's good that they've finally ended the feud.

"Tate retains the exclusive performance rights to the entirety of Operation: Mindcrime"
Wtf?
Digging: Duran Duran - Liberty |
| |
rage for order in its entirety!
|
| |
Geoff Tate is a douche. He can't even perform Operation Mindcrime anymore, why would he bother keeping the rights?
|
| |
This was silly.
|
| |
Agreed hard Panzer. Ofc he can play II all he likes, but the LaTorre version of the band should be able to play I, but life's not always fair.
|
| |
Wait, they can't play Mindcrime in its entirety or they can't play any Mindcrime?
|
| |
I'm pretty sure it's the former Friday.
|
| |
@danny Hope so. The whole thing has been ridiculous from the start.
|
| |
Agreed. All because Geoff can't accept the fact that he's of no further use to the band, he just had to go.
|
| |
YESSS
Had enough of Tate's childish bullshit
|
| |
Geoff is a total ass on this post-setttlement interview:
http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6070287/geoff-tate-puts-queensryche-lawsuit-behind-him-the-whole-experience-was-such-a
So going into October you would still potentially be using that name?
I think my last date as Queensryche is Sept. 1, Aug. 31, something like that.
If you're doing Monsters of Rock I don't know if you'd have to deal with the promoter in terms of how the name is being promoted in October.
I don't know anything about a Monsters of Rock show.
You don't? It's on the Queensryche website that you have.
Well, I don't know. I really don't know about that.
You don't know anything about the show, or about how the name situation would be handled?
First, I don't know anything about the show, and secondly, that's not part of our deal, so I don't know anything about it really. I can't really comment.
Since you said that as far as you know it's Sept. 1 that you're done using the Queensryche name, would that also cover the triryche symbol and any social media under the name?
Honestly, I'm not comfortable talking about the details of it.
In that case, what can you say you're going to be doing musically going forward?
I can't really give any details now.
What the fuck do you know?!?!
|
| |
What the fuck do you know?!?!
^seems Tate isn't quite so happy to move on as he says he is.
|
| |
Don't miss, on the next episode of ''Queensryche: The Aftermaths of Downhill''. What did Geoff say that irritated the others? What is the secret that the old mansion hides? Who is the father of the twins? Is Operation Mindcrime II a good album, after all?
These, and many more, next Sunday on Qtv.
''Qtv'': Always the best from the band's downhill.
|
| |
I didn't think Geoff got exclusive rights to Mindcrime...I must have missed that part when I read about this yesterday. Thats lame.
But he cant pull it off anymore anyways so I guess you win some you lose some.
|
| |
@SirDrumsalot: Geoff just got the rights to play full Mindcrime shows. Queensryche can still play Mindcrime songs (of course, they wrote them), but can't do any more Mindcrime tours, for example. As if they, or the fans wanted though; OM has been played to death by Tate during the last years and OM:II was a trainwreck anyway.
|
| |
If you guys want a laugh, click the link. They use a photo of Tate that just so perfectly encapsulates the rampaging douchetitan he has become.
|
| |
so henderson you are saying that basically queensryche could name a tour 'not a mindcrime tour' but play it all anyway ?
|
| |
If I remember correctly, that's not precisely how it works. Tate has the performance rights, which means that in order to play the songs, the band would have to pay him a royalty fee. Don't quote me on that, but I believe that's the broad outline.
|
| |
i remember hearing about this a long time ago. is there a legal precedent for this sorta thing? seems like there has to be.
|
| |
So what happens with Frequency Unknown? Is it still technically a Queensryche album or will it have to be re-branded as a Tate solo album? I really don't think the remaining members want that travesty associated with them.
|
| |
Yeah, the last thing they need is another shitter in their catalog.
|
| |
@menawati: Not really. They can perform songs from their entire catalogue whenever they want, but they can't play Operation Mindcrime (nor OM:II) in full live anymore. Tate will be the only one who can do that from now on (which is ironic considering that he said he didn't want to be a nostalgia act).
|
| |
man, what a headache
|
| |
A strange end to a bad novel.
|
| |
God dammit. I have no interest in seeing Geoff's Queensryche live but Mindcrime is one of my favorite albums ever. Major bummer.
|
| |
I can smell Geoff's butthurt all the way from here. [2]
Tate's voice has gotten worse than Todd's one now. Good bye Geoff.
|
| |
I'm glad this is finally over... this is what should've happened two years ago if Geoff wasn't such a tool.
|
| |
Does anyone even care about Queensryche?? Ok at best even in their heyday... Sort of like saying you care that Stephen Pearcy left RATT in 2014.
|
| |
Does anyone even care about Queensryche??
Considering I went to the trouble of posting this news? Me, for one. I actually like the new self-titled album and wish Geoff Tate would just complete the douchebag cycle: go to rehab, find Jesus, and retire from music to become a motivational speaker to other credulous Coo-coo for Christ Puffs types.
|
| |
Is Frequency Unknown still a 'Ryche album?
