Flea explains dubbed show

Bassist, Flea, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has taken to the band's website to respond to the outcry over the
fact that all their guitars were unplugged during the Superbowl's halftime show.

His response can be read here:

I read about this earlier, I still think it's nonsense

His explanation makes perfect sense, it's lame that they had to do that, but c'mon, it's Flea, not like anyone can doubt that he's a great bassist.

can't be too hard on rhcp

here is a fuck load of money for you to mimic one song

"nah man they need to here me play live!"

Curse.

I liked his response. Might as well be honest instead of lying to the fans who would then get even more outraged.

He rules in The Big Lebowski and BttF.

but yeah this makes total sense and I give them respect if all of that statement is true

and delete my very helpful comment lol, but yeah the response makes sense especially considering its the NFL here. I love these people who act like they have super-hero level integrity shitting on the band for taking this opportunity (the likes of which they could never even conceive) and playing by the NFL's rules.

they were expecting a snowstorm for this game. can you imagine what would have gone wrong in regards to sound. they were taking a risk with live vocals and got lucky that the weather was 45 degrees.

I figured this happens every year, I've got friend though telling me "ohh but The Who played live and so did the Stones etc.

no, they didn't. they just did a better job at hiding it. If anything, i think RHCP meant to have their instruments unplugged so people knew. Regardless, show was awesome, RHCP and Bruno were total bosses.

no one really plays live at the superbowl. or sings the anthem live. its a TV SHOW. wtf is wrong with people? is that so hard to understand?

Wow, refusing to mime on TOTP and instead doing crazy stuff. So original. Am I right, Iron Maiden?

What a fucking concept

of course the shit is pre-recorded

I like the fact that they were still playing the chords even though their instruments weren't plugged in. That's great.

If you want to see Red Hot Chili Peppers live, forget the Super Bowl and go see them in one of their tour concerts. You get to see them play with plugged in instruments AND you get to see a full setlist instead of two minutes of "Give it Away," before the NFL makes them close shop and get off the stage.

Bruno Mars did a good job, though.

If true, Flea and RHCP get some points here for having the stones to be upfront about the mime. They could've just plugged their shit in and spare themselves having to defend the rouse.

Good guys.
