In some ways, definitely. They're still synthetic in exactly the same way American pop is, but the songwriting is generally much better and their focus on entertainment and the artistic aspects of a performer are as well.

I find it to be way more synthetic than American pop, and the companies are in no way ashamed of that and don't try to hide it. The songs aren't even that catchy anymore. It's almost as if they're trolling teenage girls now.
