Really like this song.
Albums gonna be sick.
|
| |
Album will be a big step down from The Discovery.
|
| |
Song was pretty cool. The breakdown at the end was sweet.
I really liked The Discovery but I feel like this album is album is gonna fall flat of reaching the
same level as it.
|
| |
Sounds exactly like the first song they released. Mostly one long djent breakdown overloaded with spacey digital keyboards. Sounds like Joey Sturgis production too ugh.
|
| |
Gaaaaaaaaaaaay
Nizzle you are dead on with your comment. Very Sturgis sounding.
|
| |
Why do the riffs sound so djenty? :|
|
| |
You know, I really like this band, but these new songs they're releasing are just so... meh. That breakdown at the end made me cringe with that dubstep in the background. I fear the worst.
|
| |
Still more interesting than meshuggah at least
|
| |
i mean sure there is the djents but at least they change it up and have synth instead of same riff for half the song
|
| |
Song sucked just like machine. Too long for no reason. Repetitive as fuck. And it had dubstep....fuck.
|
| |
I can see now this album won't be anywhere as good as the discovery.
|
| |
Album Prediction: 3/5
That being said, I really liked the song. They certainly have a cool sound, but ever since they lost
their guitarist it doesn't seem like their songwriting is as strong.
|
| |
Not too bad, hope it's one of the weaker tracks.
|
| |
Jason Richardson took frets 1-24 with him
|
| |
sounds like djent 1/5 automatically
are we 4 years old? seriously...
|
| |
we are manly men
|
| |
djent in general is gay but discovery was interesting and different so hopes up
|
| |
interesting in its queerness yes, ah.
|
| |
you rated DEI a 4.5 i though you hated repetitive juns they have like 3 frets in that album
|
| |
hm clearly you havent listened to it all those jazzy passages and leads of life sorry dude metal card revoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
This album is being produced by Sturgis lol. This is gonna be no where near The Discovery.
|
| |
well look at first 2 mins of soul burn getting the same chugs riff going the whole time.
And i dont consider jazz influenced drumming and moar E chugs to be legit jazz passages like in that
same song and if you think they are then sorry jazz card revoked miles hates you!
And I obviously was making a generalised statement and dont touch my metal card you slurry fight me
irl
|
| |
Still more interesting than meshuggah at least
Jump off a cliff
|
| |
wow fear thanks my opinion has changed
|
| |
this sucks
|
| |
I know everyone says that Jason leaving made their writing worse but Jason wrote like less than 2 songs for The Discovery. Now I haven't listened to this one yet but Machine was okay. Lee is just out of ideas I think. And BoO has never been more interesting than Meshuggah
LOFUCKINGL
|
| |
CHUMP VOCALS... "YAAAAAHH YEEEEEEEEHH WAH WAH WAH", shut the fuck up.
|
| |
"And BoO has never been more interesting than Meshuggah"
I like that no one back up their opinion with reason why!
|
| |
You obviously have never listened to Meshuggah.
|
| |
"You obviously have never listened to Meshuggah."
translates to
"I can't back up my opinion"
|
| |
"Still more interesting than meshuggah at least"
Translates to:
"I've never fucking ever listened to Meshuggah, I don't know how to metal and I touch myself at night while I cry"
Come on man I can play this game all day.
|
| |
"I've never fucking ever listened to Meshuggah, I don't know how to metal and I touch myself at night while I cry"
translates to
"I'm angry that someone has a different opinion to me therefore they must know nothing and i'll insult them cause I STILL CANT BACK UP MY OPINION"
|
| |
How about you tell why you dislike Meshuggah first. You are in the minority after all.
|
| |
I'm not the one insulting people like an angsty 12 year old
and im also not the one making an argument out of it you are
and
"How about you tell why you dislike Meshuggah first. You are in the minority after all"
lol talks crap then tries to back out wow dude
|
| |
Shug are better because Jens is more appreciative of juice
|
| |
i dont get it but i guess its a start on the road to a cohesive argument
|
| |
You're the one being a child here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meshuggah
Do some reading.
Now Meshuggah has circling tripping time signatures the way they play, even with simple time is genius. Back in the day the had the fusion thing going which is lovely and if you ever listen to any of Fredriks leads or solos you should be impressed. He's a musical genius. They complex whilst being simple, which is very difficult. They are a true prog metal band
Your turn.
|
| |
FILTERED VITAMIN SUBSTANCE
|
| |
Oh and I could go and on but nah.
|
| |
Ok we're getting somewhere
Use of time signatures is all well and good but simply chugging at weird times can be interesting
when they get it right but basicly every shug song I've heard uses a cool riff, but repeats it too
much (Bleed, break those bones, the entire "nothing" album). "Bleed" started cool but gets
repetitive when the same riff with only slight variations is used for the vast majority of the 7 min
run time. They had fusion in DEI but, as I stated previously, soul burn contains fusion moments but
they are still single note and are kinda cool but no interesting bass and leads dont happen often.
And how is reading gonna make a band's music better?
|
| |
It will give you understanding of the band.
The great thing about Meshuggah is that they take a simple pattern and tweak it here and there to make a cool progression. Just listen to Catch33 dude
|
| |
"you're the one being the child here"
is that cause you're the one throwing childish insults?
or that i disagree with your opinion?
btw wat you said was:
they're good cause they use complex time signatures (yeah righto that makes a band awesome fair call)
They have fusion
they have good leads
Fusion and leads are great but is it enough when the riffs are just repeating the same jun
|
| |
Good job understanding what I said dumbass.
|
| |
So junz are interesting when BOO uses them but if Meshuggah uses them they're stupid? Complex poly-rhythms? Nah, fuck it! Horrible synths, sweeping over breakdowns, and hardly any music direction are where it's at.
|
| |
sorry ill try bandwagoning then
|
| |
And agreed Rosa
|
| |
All i said was that I find BoO mre interesting
and yeh BoO get the djunz but they will actually break away from that and throw actual riffs in there as well. Synth is usually really good imo and BoO sweeps over breakdowns shug leads over breakdowns
"Complex poly-rythms"
you mean breakdowns played at a weird time.
I never said shug's juns were bad I said they are really repetitive and basicly the same as something BoO would do I mean rational gaze? Stengah? future bread machine? what the difference between that and a BoO djent part
|
| |
its funny cause the discovery still has an average of 3.9 despite the troll ratings.
So basicly the same rating as most meshuggah alums yet BoO gets hated whilst Shug gets worshipped go figure
|
| |
"BoO is better than Messhuga"
*sigh* just another day on sputnik, song is shit, just like Machine, album is gonna blow.
|
| |
Agreed
|
| |
I mean I loved The Discovery but that's one album vs a whole discography pretty much.
|
| |
You should call your local authorities and have him taken away, Jac.
|
| |
thread is dramz
|
| |
I know everyone says that Jason leaving made their writing worse but Jason wrote like less than 2 songs for The Discovery.
I didn't know that! Can you provide a link? Sad if true.
_
Why are all you babies arguing? Meshuggah and Born of Osiris are both capable of writing good music. END OF STORY.
|
| |
Personally I find Meshugga boring, but they are still a great band.
As for the song, I thought it was neat.
|
| |
It's true I'm fairly certain. I don't know if I can find the link though. I know Lee stated that somewhere
|
| |
I guess he was writing guitar leads out of his capability then. The technicality and complexity demonstrated on The Discovery is absent on the material released thus far.
|
| |
Agreed. Minus some sweeps here and there its nothing like TD. And it would be so bad if there were riffs but just constant chugging. Ugh
|
| |
All i wanted was a genuine discussion on sput damn shoulda known better
|
| |
the writing on a higher place and a new reign was better than this garbage
|
| |
I disliked this. Synthcore song with dubstep? no thanks, that's going too far.
|
| |
lol jac, you sexy rascal
|
| |
i'll throw sim a bone here for arguments sake
jens > BoO vocalists. i've seen both bands live and jens destroys them live and is better than them on record as well. meshuggah has a more consistent discography and BoO only has the discovery. meshuggah's riffs/grooves make me want to shake my ass more than BoO's do. Meshuggah also has better atmosphere. Songs like Bleed are repetitive but only on the surface. Once you get immersed in the song you start to feel it envelop you and take over your soul whereas with BoO i usually just headbang a bit and get pumped up
|
| |
I used to love this band so much but they don't seem to be people who deserve to be respected. They seem superficial and selfish. What do I do now?
|
| |
... BoO can't old a candle to Meshuggah. This comes from a dude that 4.5'd The New Reign and 5'd The Discovery. BoO's new album is almost sure to make this even more evident.
|
| |
Boring as fuck, where's the riffs?
|
| |
"'Still more interesting than meshuggah at least'
Jump off a cliff"
Meshuggah is kinda boring...
|
| |
Stop talking about Meshuggah here you plugs.
|
| |
Wait... People are calling that end part dubstep? Have they ever listened to dubstep before?
As for this song I will admit it gets rather repetitive (not as repetitive as Machine) but, there are still some interesting parts in the song. There is a part around 2:10 (iirc) that reminded me of a riff from A Higher Place which leads me to believe there will be more stuff like A Higher Place on this album (or at least I hope).
Also, if you guys haven't done so there is 7 minute album teaser out on youtube (just search "Born of Osiris tomorrow we die") that previews a small part of every song. From what I hear on that teaser I think this album will be awesome. They show a couple interesting songs and you can hear time changes in them so you know they must have put some thought into the song writing and maybe it just doesn't reflect in the 2 songs they have put out.
Give the whole album a chance before you start making too critical of judgments... I'm still a bit skeptical about this album but, I'm hoping for the best instead of saying "Gay this sucks!".
|
| |
Also, Jason was in a video interview after TD release and said he wrote all of Behold and the breakdown of Regenerate and a couple of the shreddy parts on the album and that's it. The rest was the rest of the band.
|
| |
hmmm i thought Jason had written a few more things.
Anyway, i've listened to the 16 min preview of the album and am expecting a 3-3.5 kind of thing. Let's see. Ain't gonna be a The Discovery, but that was asking too much.
|
| |
It's only a 7 min preview -_-
|
| |
does it have junz and rahs and angersynthz?
|
| |
"All i wanted was a genuine discussion on sput damn shoulda known better"
this place is anything but a music discussion site, js.
|
| |
I like a band you don't. Let's get into an argument and go absolutely no where with it, because we all know that we'll still end up listening to what we like.
|
| |
"It's only a 7 min preview -_- "
https://vk.com/wall-45540584_1167
That's the one i've seen, it's a 16 minute one. It gives out a pretty good idea of what to expect.
|
| |
That breakdown at the end was such a cool ending to the song. Don't get the dubstep relation to it though.
And most Meshuggah songs are boring, don't see how someone can find this boring/repetitive, but not Meshuggah.
|
| |
lol this sucks
|
| |
"And most Meshuggah songs are boring, don't see how someone can find this boring/repetitive, but not Meshuggah. "
u dont understand
|
| |
"And most Meshuggah songs are boring, don't see how someone can find this boring/repetitive, but not Meshuggah."
Well, we're talking about VERY different bands. But yes, i see where you come from with that and it is kinda funny.
