Neverland Ranch Shut Down 2006-03-10 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 9 Comments | Californian authorities have ordered acquitted pop star Michael Jackson to shut down his Neverland ranch with immediate effect.
The singer has been indicted for failing to pay the wages of up to thirty staff since December of last year, and also for letting his employer's insurance lapse. The singer, currently living in Bahrain where he moved immediately following his trial last June, has been given five days to appeal the order, at which point the ranch will be shut down indefinitely.
The action came about when an unnamed worker suffered an accident at work and was unsure about whether to file a claim due to the lapsed insurance. Another worker then filed an unpaid wage claim.
The property is also home to a private zoo, which will come under the care of a local authority until the matter is resolved.
