Good thing for musicians i guess
| |
not like it matters anyways
| |
Awesome.
| |
Oh how the world is changing.
| |
Wow... dunno if I like the idea of this, but I guess this would be quite good for the artists.
| |
that's kinda cool
| |
So PSY and his single Gangnam Style will receive diamond only on Youtube streaming? It doesn't really matters[2]
| |
I think this is pretty cool, albeit insignificant
| |
should count scrobbles
| |
Billboard did the same thing. That's how "Harlem Shake" got to the top of the charts despite having only a modest number of
downloads (and plays on YouTube for the full song, but the clips people danced to counted for some ridiculous reason.)
| |
well this is awesome for musicians
| |
I have 3 cats
| |
good for michael
| |
WE MUST NOW STREAM THE LAURA STEVENSON
THE LAURA STEVENSON MUST BECOME PLATINUM
WE MUST NOW STREAM EVERYBODY DOES THEIR PART: 1000 STREAMS A DAY
| |
lol
| |
did they just pluck 100 out the air or what
| |
Seems that way, really. I think it should be more.
| |
I guess this is what they do when they aren't suing people.
| |
hadouken! are def going to go platinum
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo0Cazxj_yc
| |
make that two times platinum!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6XUVjK9W4o
| |
this is completely arbitrary....a sale is a sale. FREE streams are not sales.
| |
Well, from now on the charts are gonna be... off the charts.
| |
Hadouken!
| |
How did they calculate these conversions? Why 100 streams as opposed to 50?
| |
this is completely arbitrary....a sale is a sale. FREE streams are not sales."
Ya but people get paid for youtube subscribers and hits and whatnot. I think this is just the next step in the future of marketing since physical sales of music are becoming futile and everything is becoming digital.
| |
Well, Spotify gives some cents or fractions of a cent to the artist for every listen... Maybe they get as much money for a hundred streams as they would get for the single on iTunes or something like that. Don't know about the other sources.
| |
hahahahaha yeah because riaa certifications are still relevant
they realized they lost the battle and are now playing catch up
| |
seems like everything i listen to these days is on bandcamp and i love it
fuck record companies
| |
This is stupid, viral dancing songs are gonna go diamond
| |
Sweet I've got like 10 album sales now
| |
This change has already caused certain albums to receive new certifications
c'mon people
these are singles, not albums
| |
ugh here we go
| |
RIAA: Trying to remain relevant.
| |
"Ya but people get paid for youtube subscribers and hits and whatnot. I think this is just the next step in the future of marketing since physical sales of music are becoming futile and everything is becoming digital."
Bingo.
| |
These are singles, not album? What's up?
| |
Time to start refreshing pages constantly
| |
Pirate to spite them.
but honestly I find this to be stupid. Whatever flavor of the month song will spike then taper off. Now album certification means even less.
| |
I find it hard to equate streams to sales - I mean, I see how it works in relation to the artist accumulating a sum of money, but something about this doesn't sit well with me.
| |
pretty soon artists won't even have to make entire albums if they can just make ringtones instead
| |
Interesting.
| |
I think this is quite a good idea but I'm not sure if it's fair to count the sort of passive streaming that goes on constantly, so I'm conflicted on this.
| |
everybody go stream godspeed songs until they go platinum
| |
they should really have just made new charts for streaming that are unrelated.
| |
Wouldn't however many songs are on the album being the required number for how many streams would make one album make the most sense?
| |
no.
| |
lets also make brie larson a platinum record
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bvYRlv7XCw
| |
I'd like to congratulate Keyboard Cat and He-Man for their gold records.
| |
mmm not sure about this
| |
there should just be a separate certification system based on streaming.
| |
