That being said, the dude was a pretty legit drummer. Just listen to his work on "Chuck."

I dunno where the band will really go from here though. Screaming Bloody Murder was a vast improvement from Underclass Hero, but at least for me...not as good as Chuck.

Yeah No Killer, Infected, and Chuck are pop-punk staples.

Chuck was my favorite, everything else never stuck with me.

this so much. although i, unlike basically everyone on here, really liked screaming bloody murder and think it's their second-best album (behind chuck, of course), so i still think they've got some good music in them. but stevo was the personality of the band, plus a very good drummer. i'm sure no one's really been paying attention, but deryck has turned into a drug addict/alcoholic mess, so i'm guessing stevo just didn't want that lifestyle to continue to rub off on him (especially as a father in his mid-30s now).

Some of your comments about wanting the band to break up years ago are a bit dissrespectful. Remember that SUM 41 along with Blink etc made pop punk popular since the millenium and have influenced many bands.

All Killer No Filler and Chuck were awesome albums, but I do agree they haven't done much since.

Its hard enough being in a band these days especially as you get older and have commitments, so respect to Derek and the rest of the band if they decide to continue

As a former hardcore Sum 41 fan, I think it's time for them to break up. Screaming Bloody Murder was fucking terrible.

Did anyone notice how he made an insane amount of progression with his drumming during the Infected-Chuck days and then Underclass Hero and Screaming Bloody Murder came out and his drumming was reduced to simplistic shit? I wonder if that was Deryck's doing. Either way, I've always loved this band, sans Underclass and half of SBM, so this saddens me greatly.

I'm sure they can count the number of countries they've been to...
