The Royal
Five driven musicians, each in their own way trying to achieve something in today’s metal/hardcore scene. Their paths crossed and they realized they share the same passion and goal in music. Chemistry took over and The Royal was born.
Shortly after forming in late 2012, this metalcore band hailing from the The Netherlands, began to write and record songs. Not only do they give their everything in terms of music, each one of them contributes in a different expertise considered necessary for a professional band nowadays. The Royal tries taking the term DIY (Do It Yourself) to a whole new level and are definitely succeeding in doing so; interviews by magazines and receiving tons of feedback and positive response from fans all around the globe.
Their debut EP ‘Origins’ was released in December 2012, and is only a start of bigger things yet to come. It contains six songs, each filled with awesome riffs, heavy breakdowns, clean vocals and screams. These young men show incredible promise through songs that showcase poignant and powerful writing, both lyrically and musically while still staying in touch with their hardcore/punk roots. Their music displays a well-done balance between metal, melody and strength. Given their ability to draw the listener in with brutally honest lyrics about life, relationships, and struggle, the band shows solidarity for their future as a band to be taken seriously. The artwork and recording was done by the band members themselves. There is also a lyric video and liveclip on Youtube made by the band that you should definitely go check out.
Their live performances can be described as energetic and crazy. If you have not yet seen The Royal you owe it to yourself to stop whatever you were doing and go to one of their shows immediately!

It's not going to win any awards for originality, but it's not bad. Kind of reminds me of The Sorrow.
| | | Very old news, this was released November 22nd.
| | | Will try this.
| | | Damn, that is old. I'm surprised they didn't release this on tape.

I cringed at how royally cliche and contrived that read.
They put into the effort to write and record this, and released it for free, so there isn't really any reason not to give it a listen.
| | | It's okay but I would not hire these guys.
| | | Actually pretty sweet, the more I'm listening.
| | | Who do these guys sound like? The article isn't sparking my interest.

I don't know who they sound like, but as far as a description of what they sound like: hardcore-heavy metalcore with proto-djent overtones and post-rock undertones.
| | | Fair enough. I'll give it a listen.
Update: This is awful generic-core. AVOID!
