Nuclear Blast sign Thy Art

2013-01-25 by SIMBOLIC | 49 Comments
Sydney modern deathmetal outfit Thy Art is Murder have out pen to paper and signed a deal with the world's largest extreme music label, Nuclear Blast.

"I didn't find Thy Art Is Murder, they found me! After getting multiple calls and emails from various industry contacts telling me ‘you gotta hear this band!’ and seeing the online buzz at iTunes here in the U.S., it was very clear to me that something very real and organic was happening; this band was reacting massively all on their own,”, stated Monte Connor, the head of Nuclear Blast.

When asked about he he felt signing to Nuclear Blast, TAIM guitarist Andy Marsh stated:

"Nuclear Blast has always represented the pinnacle of extreme metal, a last bastion in an ever evolving industry. To say we now share a label with the greatest extreme metal bands of all time is ridiculous. It was never a dream, it was impossible. But we've done it. The future will be heavy,"

Somewhat better than similar bands, but still kinda tame. Nuclear blast have alot of idiot fans and TASM will probably be butchered there, but we'll see.

infinite death wasnt bad. i actually had some hope that a deathcore band might release some decent material, and then they came out with that extremely boring full length.

I say modern deathmetal cause lets be honest they have 0 hardcore in their music. The breakdowns arent hardcore breakdowns. They make a modernized type of deathmetal.

breakdowns =/= deathcore

you're genuinely trying to say there hasn't been a stylistic progression in their sound between their ep's and full lengths? like, seriously? dude are you deaf?

Good for them. It's been so long since I've heard anything from these guys, that I wasn't sure if they were around. One of my friends lives in their hometown, and used to spam me with DL links and news about them when they were only a non-touring, local leveled band.

"Not to say they haven't developed since their earlier material. I'm saying in the general scheme of
death metal and deathcore, no they haven't done anything revolutionary."

They can be taken as a Modern Death Metal band. Not as in a Death Metal band that pioneers the genre,
but as a band that plays a more "contemporary" strain of Death Metal. I think

Also, yes they are Deathcore. Just a slightly more mature, trve metvl Deathcore. Hence why the modern Death Metal tag haha

SIMBOLIC

I'm nit implying that they are evolutionary. That's like saying that old school dm bands are irrelevant cause they're old and not modern. Maybe modern dm isn't the right label, but deathcore isn't either.

I also consider hell chose me and the cleansing to be modern dm, cause again there is 0 hardcore just breakdowns, and the breakdowns are suffocation influenced, hence not hardcore.

But I get the deathcore tag

Pennywise_M

Yeah i get you Jac. Its a more mature, death metal oriented Deathcore.

And again, not everything that has breakdowns is Metalcore/Deathcore. In Mourning have breakdwons, Meshuggah have breakdowns, Chthonic have breakdowns, and so on.
