First thing I thought when this was announced was, "fuck I'm going to be out of pocket again". lol I got the deluxe single of Rinkaku and it was expensive. There is a deluxe of this and it's almost double the price.... Has to be bought though. haha
You're right though, Rinkaku was amazing. I look forward to how this will sound.
|
| |
This is exciting! Rinkaku was amazing.
|
| |
They aren't a joke if you judge this band by their appearance or their fanbase you'll be way wrong.
|
| |
Your username is a joke though
|
| |
This band has some really cool stuff but damn thay last album was nightmarishly bad.
All about Uroboros, their artistic peak imo. But I do love DSS, it's a grower.
|
| |
this band sucks so bad.
|
| |
Full version of Rinkaku is excellent.
|
| |
Love the vox.
and that chorus, though.
|
| |
a new mini album
So an EP...?
New song rules though.
|
| |
No, it's a small conglomeration of tracks, not an EP...I mean, wait a minute!
|
| |
"Oh crap, we don't have enough songs to call it an LP...but no one buys EPs...uh...uh...mini album! Yes!"
|
| |
Never could get into this band
|
| |
^^ In Japan they usually call EPs mini albums
The way Japan does music industry is very different from the west, they barely do concerts with multiple bands, most concerts are one band playing for 2 hours+ and some shows are woman-only, guy-only, couple-only etc.
its a cultural thing
|
| |
Well that sounds retarded

Some nice facts there, man. I knew about the 2+ hours, but I didn't know about the men-only, women-only one's. Very... traditonal.
|
| |
I knew about the men only thing. Dir En Grey will play a few shows at the same venue (say, Budokan) and one will be men only, then the next will be everyone, or something like that.
Anyways, I'm definitely going to get this. To anybody who bought the single: How does it look? Is it as cool as the Different Sense Single?
Also...hope this leads to an American tour :D
|
| |
Why would you make a show for men only and then play a women only show the next night? Why not just play two shows for everyone?
|
| |
'Anyways, I'm definitely going to get this. To anybody who bought the single: How does it look? Is it as cool as the Different Sense Single?'
Mine hasn't come yet, but I saw a unboxing on Youtube and it looks amazing. Definitely better than Different Sense.
|
| |
Dir En Grey are indecisive on behalf of their sexual orientation. Some nights they like the dong, other nights they like the snatch.
|
| |
Cool, love almost everything they've ever done and I'm sure this will be no exception.
|
| |
Definitely m/
|
| |
Awesome news!
|
| |
they segregate shows bc fangirls dont like being caught in a mosh.
|
| |
since when was it cool to like dir en grey
|
| |
"Why would you make a show for men only and then play a women only show the next night? Why not just play two shows for everyone?"
I don't think dir en grey does girl only shows but cmon man...in a land where most of the J-rockers and J-pop artists look like girls you really don't want raging fangirls at your metal show.
Compared to other J-rock/metal bands Dir En Grey looks kvlt as fuck over there
|
| |
Mine hasn't come yet, but I saw a unboxing on Youtube and it looks amazing. Definitely better than Different Sense.
Gonzo, can you give me the link? Thanks.

I like this band but fuck its weeaboo fanbase so hard. you guys dont mosh, and you bitch when they try to do heavier things. their last album was sick
|
| |
Dude, never judge a book by it's cover.
Look at Tylor Swift. Ugly as F***, but makes the best music ever!
|

That wasn't easy to find. I found it by chance the first time. haha
|
| |
I hope this album is as goos as their 2 previous effots. I'm going to check this out.
|
| |
"All about Uroboros, their artistic peak imo."
Welcome to Dir en grey.
We hope you're enjoying the only album they've ever released.
Ever.

What they had other albums. jk. but Uroboros was awesome. I've been a fan since 2000 but I'm sure you've been a fan since La:Sadie's and have jacked off to all of their rarities.
|

If this is frustration over the fact it's the only album that gets mentioned, it's because there is a reason for it: it's friggin AMAZING. I like/love all their albums, but I remain true that Uroboros is their creative peak.
|
| |
I agree with the comments saying Uroboros is their best. It has the perfect blend of their poppy stuff and the heavier stuff, as well as some of their best songwriting. All of their albums are great though, and I'm really looking forward to this. I just wish they still played stuff from Vulgar and Withering to Death live.
|
| |
Wish they would come around my place at least.
|
| |
legit
|
| |
Never really listened to this band. Where's a good place to start?
|
| |
Uroboros? :P hahaha
Honestly though, depends on our taste in music; if you like music heavy, the last three albums will see you well -although Uroboros is a mixture of their old sound the new heavy sound.
Vulgar and Withered Within are great albums of the old.
|
| |
What is Withered Within? You mean Withering To Death?
|
| |
withered within is the remix of withering to death by linkin park
|
| |
'What is Withered Within? You mean Withering To Death?'
Meh, same thing.
|
| |
My only frustration is that newer fans completely overlook what they accomplished w/ MACABRE & Kisou, both albums
that saw the band doing "concept" well before URO, although that doesn't make URO any less impressive, just not the
super new cool thing all the hipsters who first saw them in Best Buy or Hot Topic seem to think it is.
Their initial background with the release of MISSA & GAUZE made them only superficially stand-out amid a crowd of
other early 90's visual-kei (despite these being good releases).
That they went on to make more complex music (and even produced it themselves) only 2 years later w/ their
sophomore & junior efforts is actually pretty surprising given the churn out rate of such bands.
That you consider Vulgar & Withering to be their best albums of their "old style" makes me also question if you actually
listened to anything prior to Vulgar, and not just once in a torrent discography to grab their other recent albums.
I will however agree that Vulgar probably represents the last kind of album where Kyo sings in a mostly clean to not-
clean ratio, but thankfully it seems like their experimentation w/ distorted growls & enka style vocals is coming full
circle w/ the amount of cleaner singing on Dum Spiro Spero.
On topic, URO (Remastered) is a great accomplishment, & and it's certainly unique amid other albums, but MACABRE &
Kisou did it first, just without all the oblique alt, prog, & metalcore influences.
As good as URO is, they'll never make another song like Mushi or Riyuu (WAKE).

^
This is just your opinion. You can sit there and write a book about why you think their old stuff is better, but at the end of the day, you calling people hipsters for liking Uroboros is a bit of a generalization.
I'll admit I got into this band through Uroboros, but I own all their albums and enjoy all of them (less on Macabre).
The problem with this sort of band is their sound is constantly moving and changing and you can't really say their old stuff is better, because It's just a matter of personal taste. I bet half the people on here that like Diru enjoy their newer stuff more, doesn't make them any less a fan though.
As Mabbitt said, Uroboros is the perfect blend of their old sound and new. Maybe that's why it appeals to people more?
For the record, I think Gauze is one of their best albums.
|
| |
Massive colon rampage occurring here.
|
| |
Can't be doing with people forcing shit on other people. haha
Opinion. Everyone has one.
|
| |
I agree; total opinion.
Whatever mild frustration is with newer fans who either have yet to discover releases prior to URO or blatantly refuse to
because of misconceptions of visual-kei, to clarify.
URO is a blend, I will agree to that. It is also probably one of their catchiest albums melody wise (previously I think
GAUZE was probably the best at that).
Still disagree as to why URO may appeal to Americans more.
I think it's largely just old-fashioned memetic groundswell of enough people knowing they are around & more attention
towards them, as well as the fairly aggressive marketing campaign the album had prior.
A good deal of it is people getting 1st exposure, though, I admit. Not all newer fans are lesser fans merely for this fact
or for merely liking URO, but I do think they are disrespectful consumerist wankers if they purposely ignore the rest of
their output prior and after URO, however. Again, though, just an opinion. Blowing away in the wind. Money.

srsly man? i didnt read all that, but srsly?
|
| |
I read all of it and I can tell you it's not worth reading.
|
| |
Tl;dr: RIP actual musical discussions circa 2012.
|
| |
It's not much of a discussion when you don't say much but type essays.
|
| |
Fixed. I will avoid boring ppl w/ mini essays in the future.
|
| |
You have a rather offensive generalization of people, man.
And most of the stuff you're chatting is bullshit.
Hell, if you want to talk about respecting their old stuff, even Diru don't like their old stuff anymore. Why else would they scrap the Visual Kei shit and remake their old songs at any given opportunity?
|
| |
"You have a rather offensive generalization of people, man.
And most of the stuff you're chatting is bullshit."
Haven't you heard?
That's just like, your opinion, man.
I love how you call my opinion bullshit, but won't tolerate someone like me disagreeing with yours; even after I
admitted I was being self-important w/ too many words, prior.
But I guess It's important to spread the narcissism around so you look more intelligent.
"Hell, if you want to talk about respecting their old stuff, even Diru don't like their old stuff anymore. Why else would
they scrap the Visual Kei shit and remake their old songs at any given opportunity?"
They have a lot of albums, at this point, & have an international audience largely (rationally) ignorant of their previous
output in Japan.
Focusing on supporting mostly newer albums on tours, specifically latest releases, doesn't indicate any clear "dislike" of
their previous output, anymore than me replying to you means I respect your existence as a sentient human being (i.e.
subjective and/or inferential)
Also: remaking shit helps sell their singles? A new fan goes "Oh boy gee howdy, a b-side!" when he sees a remake of
ZAN.
What if they remade Mushi with gutteral metalcore growls, rendering most of the melody of the vocals obsolete?
Yea. Kind of a stupid idea.
But again that's like, just my opinion, man.
I'm done if you're done. We are boring the sh*t out of this page.
