As a massive fan of the band, and one who even got a lot of enjoyment out of Until We Have Faces, this song is not very good. Heaviness á la Feed the Machine or Out From Under is something these guys excel at, but this whole simplistic, meathead alt metal thing is really beneath what they're capable of. Also, it sorely lacks strings.
That being said, I'm still optimistic about the new album. This is the band that out out Innocence & Instinct, so I will always have faith.
|
| |
Ugh. Their first 2 albums were enjoyable, but they should have just retired after that.
Their last one was so contrived and they're just going to sink further with each new album.
|
| |
Sounds like Howard Benson's been doing what he does best; destroying bands.
Song sounds as if the band has fully embraced every nu-metal/christian rock cliché.
|
| |
just
let
goooooooooooo
|
| |
RELEASE THE KRAKEN
|
| |
innocence and instinct is amazing but I don't have high hopes for this
|
| |
Hope this is good, band showed so much potential at the start
|
| |
just
let
goooooooooooo
The good old days...
|
| |
What the hell is up with that production
Song isnt as bad as you guys are saying but chorus is very live friendly and overall sounds like a bad attempt to redo feed the machine
|
| |
Where's the atmosphere? At least Faces had some atmosphere. This was so... empty sounding. Now I'm sad.
|
| |
That's not saying that Faces was all that good. Still above average I guess but not as good as the previous 2.
|
| |
Wow, that sucked. Usually their heavier stuff is good but I didn't enjoy that at all.
|
| |
Yeah. Disappointing.
|
| |
Noooooooo Red don't do it!
|
| |
I really like this band. They're great live.
|
| |
10. So Far Away
lol
|
| |
that was shit
what happened to this band? I&I is still legitimately one of my fav albums
|
| |
"The good old days..."
not to mention "breathe in, breathe out" after doing the whole breathe thing with "Breathe Into Me." Looks like the band's recycling lyrical content
|
| |
Sad thing, band was good, hope the album isn't as bad as this.
|
| |
That was more than a little disappointing.
|
| |
Well that sucked.
|
| |
Yawn.
|
| |
10. So Far Away
lol
NOW THAT WE'RE HERE
|
| |
SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
|
| |
Staind!!
I could have sworn I knew another mainstream rock called So Far Away. I think it was Crossfade... I don't know but it's bland as fuck
|
| |
That was a little...weird. And I fucking love these guys so you know something's off.
Not sure what to expect now, the samples they'd show in studio recording videos made this sound like it was gonna be better. Shit.
|
| |
I don't hold I&I quite as highly as some people do but these guys really did have a lot of potential. The biggest disappointment here is that it sounds like they're getting rid of the strings.
|
| |
I agree the strings kinda "made" them. This just made it seem like they're perfectly fine being one of those average old nu-metal bands with faux-angsty lyrics.
|
| |
@xtoxin You are indeed correct, it is in fact Crossfade. I'M SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I'VE BEEN CHANGING, BUT YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME NOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
|
| |
This sucks. I hope they have strings on the other songs too.
|
| |
So Far Away is like the most-used title for rock songs
|
| |
"10. So Far Away
lol"
I LOVE YOU
I LOVED YOU ALL ALONG
|
| |
"So Far Away is like the most-used title for rock songs"
Also, Suffocate
|
| |
this will be so bad. they've surely lived up to their influences...
|
| |
Ouch...and I loved the previous three albums.
|
| |
Sounds like Drowning Pool.
|
| |
Like the band a lot, but wasn't impressed by their last effort; however, although this song isn't great, after reading the comments I was expecting something real shitty, and its not half bad.
|
| |
SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAY WE WAIT FOR THE DAYYYEEEEAYYYY
|
| |
@xtoxin You are indeed correct, it is in fact Crossfade. I'M SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I'VE BEEN CHANGING, BUT YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME NOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
that's right!! Wow that must have been 5th grade, hahaha.
|
| |
Same here dudes, I downloaded it off LimeWire and put it on my mp3 that could hold a maximum of 100 songs and I would jam out to some angsty alt metal. Aaaaaah, middle school. Those were the days.
|
| |
Glad I stuck with just I&I
|
| |
This is so generic. Really disappointed, I normally like Red.
|
| |
I liked all their heavier songs, but this doesn't do it for me.
|
| |
I liked So Far Away from Crossfade. Still do actually.
Fuck all ya'll...
|
| |
Howard Benson is where good bands go to get what's special about them taken away.
|
| |
WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE STRINGS? I WANT MY FUCKING STRINGS!
|
| |
Well that was incredibly disappointing. I was hoping they'd get back some of the passion on I&I and it seems like they just went the opposite direction and removed every ounce of authenticity.
|
| |
^should start a petition with this as the slogan
|
| |
Release the Strings
|
| |
I hope that single is as misleading as Feed the Machine was for UWHF
|
| |
I was thinking we might have the reverse of UWHF too! That'd be sick, but let's be honest here...
|
| |
holy shit you're right
I just looked him up on wiki
When he produced Skillet's album, they churned out Awake...
|
| |
fffuuuuuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkkkkk
|
| |
He also produced Relient K's most boring album (5 Score and 7 Years Ago)
Is this guy the king of generic mainstream rock/metal?
|
| |
if this guy ever produced an album with chevelle i'd literally jump off a cliff
although he didn't do too shabby a job with P.O.D.'s newest album, that was actually their best in ages...
|
| |
Yeah, given Benson's track record there and this single, there is very little chance of this being good.
|
| |
This is going to sound like fanboy gushing, but in my opinion, the string arrangements are what set Red apart from the sea of mundane Christian rock acts and even put Red on a level playing field with mainstream rock acts. The strings are not just afterthoughts that are added to the tracks to make them sound cool; the strings are complex enough to actually add emotion and texture to the songs. This is especially evident in Innocence & Instinct, in songs like "Mystery of You", "Confession", and "Take It All Away".
I also really hope they continue using whatever that percussion instrument is that sounds like church bells.
|
| |
That song blows.
|
| |
Am I the only one who thought this was about Baroness?
|
| |
"set Red apart from the sea of mundane Christian rock acts and even put Red on a level playing field with mainstream rock acts."
Are you kidding? Red at I&I was easily one of the best mainstream rock bands, regardless of Christian status.
|
| |
That's what I was kind of trying to say.
|
| |
Oh yeah, these guys exist.
|
| |
True story, bro.
|
| |
benis :DD
|
| |
^Hopefully this might be like a radio release and there will be a better album release of this song(similar to the two versions of faceless). Even then, this song BETTER be what The Outside was to Until We Have Faces.
|
| |
I just realized that this song kind of sounds like something Thousand Foot Krutch would produce. In fact, it sort of sounds like "Fire It Up" with a faster tempo, less cheesy lyrics, and stronger vocals.
