I just don't understand the hate this band get. Seriously, in every musical genre there is repetition in song structures and songwriting(just check out bands like ACDC as an example) If they were utterly bad in songwriting I wouldn't say anything to defend them, but the guys know how to write a song.

I don't hate this band, but what bothers me is that people who only listen to the radio and other mainstream music love this band because "they're so original because they make folk music" when in fact there are a lot of bands out there doing the same thing and getting no credit for it

I find irony in this. So many of my friends claim this is a reimergence of rock music in the mainstream. I on the other hand think that since Arcade Fire won record of the year, the music industry finally saw the potential in Indie rock and will now bastardize it like everything else. Mumford & Sons are not terrible but they create audaciously average music which the music industry will force feed the masses.

You speak the truth. The reason there's so much hate for Mumford is because they're getting all the love and credit when there are bands like Grizzly Bear that deserve it much more but don't appeal to the pop music fans of the world.

lol the only difference is the tuning and amount of strings, it's the same fucking fingerstyle technique. if you can competently play the "banjitar", you can play a banjo... as you would also be saying that somebody playing a guitar in open tuning doesn't know how to play the "real" instrument! naturally
