That comparison isn't really accurate, if it was the Dream Theater approach it would be a typical verse chorus song with a slightly long intro and a long bridge filled with solos shoehorned in to make what was otherwise a straight forward song seem more "prog"

okay all that aside since it's a subjective thing, you can't deny that they're predictable as fuck, especially now they're on their like 10th album, i anticipated literally every movement that song had to offer and the movements weren't even that good
in fact the only time i find this band interesting is when they're not trying to be heavy, which is why their only good album is the eye of every storm, and even then whenever their songs hit the 'climax' i totally lose interest
maybe it's the guitar tone that disagrees with me, i really hate it, and his vocals really don't do it any favours ]:

These guys are about textural nuances, not so much the cliche peaks and valleys that has ruined post metal for me. They're fucking powerful in their execution and completely surpass everything you know about post-metal. I almost hesitate in using post-metal with them anymore, typically gives people the wrong impression about the band.

A fat joint helps and also losing the post-metal tag associated with them. I know you love Rosetta so try to think of Neurosis as a more raw form of that band. Other than that, I don't think I can ever convince you that these guys are one of the best.
