Headlined this year by Kenny Chesney and his 'bro in country music arms Tim McGraw, The New England Country Music Festival is a tradition among music fans of New England year after year. Forget the so called tradition has just ten or so years under it's hat. Because as we all know when it comes to being country tradition is what it's all about. So we'll let them have it.
Also a tradition in country music is drinking, raising hell, smoking weed, and drinking. Beer, Daisy Dukes, 'Ol Glory, Willie Nelson blunts, and yet more Daisy Dukes. Couple that with some heartfelt cheese about freedom, romantic "together forever" songs that are really about sex, and some crap about grandma, guns, and the way things "used to be," and you've got a ready made recipe for hillbilly fun.
Unless of course a girl dies in a car crash a few years ago driving to or from said festival, and the authorities go on a freedom hating rampage as a result. Seriously guys, if you like country music avoid this festival like the plague or Bon Jovi's Lost Highway album.
Over the weekend local cops went on a killjoy festival of their own at the show arresting a whopping 101 country music fans and taking an even more whopping 466 into custody. Holy shit wtf must they have been up too? Did rap fans invade, or some other subspecies group of undesirables causing a ruckus? Nope, they did not. But that didn't stop local law enforcement from dropping the hammer.
Offenses ranged from the usual party killing charge of minors in possession of alcohol to the more fun assault and battery on a police officer. Also reported was the always popular to be arrested for at concerts drug possession, and the flashing of tits in the wrong direction. A Billy Ray Cyrus fan was also arrested for being a Billy Ray Cyrus fan.
This reporter has learned this happy crappy has been going on for at least 3 or 4 years now. Or ever since some local freedom lovers decided too much freedom is not good if someone dies. In that case sputnik music recommends these people don't leave their homes, and don't let your children leave the house. But if rednecks can't be rednecks at a redneck show, where can they be rednecks? Stay far away from this shambles, I say.
