Here ya go Eko
|
| |
awesome blossom, anberlin is back
|
| |
their last album was zzz
not too excited for this one
|
| |
This is a bit better guest
|
| |
This was enjoyable, but I can't imagine what the rest of the album is going to sound like, unless it sounds exactly like everything else they've done mixed together.
Edit: This is much more powerful than some of the stuff off of their past two albums.
|
| |
thank you sowing
|
| |
could be good, actually. I love M83.
|
| |
i hear sprinkle influence all over the place
|
| |
according to amberlin they took a lot of influence from M83 and there are a lot of keyboards and stuff
ugh.
|
| |
I've been reading a lot of gushing about these guys on this site and I sorta see why now
|
| |
man lakes youre on a roll tonight
yeah I'm cautiously optimistic about M83 influence
|
| |
I love it. They're my favorite band of all time so I'm very glad this song didn't disappoint.
|
| |
From the couple of songs I've heard thus far, it really does sound like they have intentionally made this album have a more urgent feel... Should go down a treat live as well.
|
| |
did you ever hear the story about how supposedly "anberlin" is a reference to everything in its right place where thom yorke is making weird sounds
it does sort of sound like he says anberlin at one point
|
| |
Yeah Davey where are you hearing this? you must tell me
|
| |
yeah Davey what gives there
|
| |
This absolutely slays. I couldn't be more pleased. Aoty
And I can confidently say Sprinkle puts this band at their best. They need to stick with him
|
| |
That isn't the sound I was expecting, but I loved it. So excited for this release.
|
| |
Good song. Surprised actually.
|
| |
dunno but that song also sounds cool, helps that christian has such a great live voice
|
| |
Wow, thought they sounded a bit burnt out last album but this has them right back in on the action. Very good.
|
| |
didnt these guys just release an album? oh wait... that was switchfoot... the other sucky band.
|
| |
These guys are leagues ahead of switchfoot, though they have 2 good albums
|
| |
Not bad, interested to hear more. They've released some amazing albums in the past so I have high hopes for this.
|
| |
This song reminds me a lot of We Owe This to Ourselves; I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the opener. The chorus is huge though, which is something that I feel lacking from their previous album.
|
| |
Good to see a little aggression again. I loved the last album but it got too mellow at points. This is really cool and a cool progression for them.
|
| |
aw man beat me to it sowing
but yeah, i hated their last two albums but this sounds really good, I'm actually excited.
and sprinkle is a miracle worker.
|
| |
Lakes lay off the roids brother. Everybody knows Anberlin is tits
|
| |
Words can't describe the incredibility of this song.
|
| |
My bad. I heard a clip of a song a few weeks back, but it turns out that it was actually from this song.
|
| |
4? It dropped at like almost 2 PM CST. I've listened to it at least 12-15
|
| |
I'm legitimately hoping I don't wear it out. I need to stop
|
| |
So glad this single is good
|
| |
NTFP was a great album, haven't really listened to them since then, but this was pretty good. Might check out the album when it comes out
|
| |
I'm obsessed. I never expected this from them post DITW but I'm so glad they did it. Apparently Nathan wrote it and also thought it was too different so he almost scrapped it before he showed it to Stephen
|
| |
I didn't either. While I don't think either record after Cities is bad, that was the last record I anxiously anticipated. I didn't care when New Surrender and DITW dropped really. But more so DITW than New Surrender
|
| |
Song is awesome, album will be solid. These guys never really disappoint.
|
| |
"their last two albums ruled, don't even go there bro or i will break you
okay, half of new surrender was meh
BUT STILL"
i think talking about how much i hate anberlin's last two albums is about 50% of my sputnik comment total
|
| |
and by hate, i mean i gave New Surrender a 3 and Dark is the Way a 2.5
|
| |
Song is awesome, i love the pre-chorus.
|
| |
did you ever hear the story about how supposedly "anberlin" is a reference to everything in its right place where thom yorke is making weird sounds
it does sort of sound like he says anberlin at one point
Did you hear the one where their name was actually Amberlin?
|
| |
so good dang
|
| |
Never heard anything from these guys, so wasn't expecting anything.
That was actually pretty cool.
|
| |
Pretty good song
|
| |
Fuck yeah. I always loved their heavier songs and this one doesn't disappoint.
|
| |
Impossibly lovely
|
| |
To whoever was saying something about the track listing - yep, this song is first on the album. http://community.anberlin.com/viewtopic.php?t=6712
'reid' is the moderator there and works for the band, I believe.
Anyway, I really like this song, although 'Don't Bite' keeps getting stuck in my head. I'm pretty excited for this album (because it's Anberlin -- and not soft anberlin) but like Eko said I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole electronic thing. I like it, but I'm wondering where they'll take it
Stephen's wife sings in this, which I think sounds pretty cool, but her voice is really high so it does sound like autotune if you don't know. So maybe a bit too high. (now I'm just rambling.)
|
| |
Shit fall 2012 is delivering.
|
| |
Yeah baby so good baby love you
|
| |
their last two albums are my favorites of theirs, I can't get into the old stuff. can't listen to this until im off work but I hope its good
|
| |
But Never Take Friendship Personal is perfect.
|
| |
so much hate for the last album. Thought it was great. Was under the impression that everyone else liked it too
|
| |
I didn't like their direction (becoming more and more pop-oriented) but I still enjoyed the record a lot.
|
| |
It had some great tracks for sure
|
| |
I like NS but not DITWLIAP soooo
|
| |
Soooo shut up queer
Jk love you
|
| |
New Surrender's closing track is fantastic
|
| |
New Surrender was the first Anberlin album I heard, so I can't help but love it a lot more than most of you. It's a really special album to me. I literally love every song the band has made though.
|
| |
^ I thought that was good as well. I also really liked their cover of True Faith.
I think I like the B-sides more than the actual album.
|
| |
I like the second half of NS as much as the first
|
| |
Sweet.
|
| |
Will 'The Feel Good Drag' be on this one?
|
| |
self-exploder
|
| |
Nonono Deviant. 'The Feel Good Drag' was already on NTFP. This album will have 'A Feel Good Drag.'
|
| |
Feel a good drag
|
| |
It's going to be heavily electronic.
|
| |
Drag the good feel
|
| |
a feel good drag: when the drag strikes back
|
| |
Vader will do guest vocals.
|
| |
questioning why i didnt listen to this band earlier
|
| |
because you have better intentions
|
| |
I wonder if don't bite will be the second single. I'm thinking it might be - they were playing it at the acoustic tour concerts.
|
| |
Holy shit. Finally.
Been listening since NTFP's release date so many years ago. Cities was neat but then they just started declining and getting too quite and mellow and boring.
If this rest of the album is like this....then that's amazing. Energy, finally.
|
| |
this is............ Awesome!
|
| |
FINALLY
all the good music coming out for an enjoyable last few months of 2012
|
| |
2012 had a slow start, not gonna lie
|
| |
Indeed bro I was worried for a lil while.
|
| |
Enjoyed it...
|
| |
I first heard Anberlin when they performed Paperthin Hymn on that TechTV show, before TechTV was absorbed by G4. Been in love with them since.
|
| |
I remember that pax. Holy shizzle that might be how I discovered them now that I'm remembering.
|
| |
His voice...
|
| |
ruled
|
| |
band is a snoozefest
|
| |
you're a snoozefest
|
| |
what a marvelous comeback
|
| |
Your a marvelous comeback!
|
| |
You're*
|
| |
Tyraelxy, you gave The Faceless's new album a higher rating than Cities. You have no room to talk about snoozefests.
|
| |
Sweet. I actually don't like the keyboard or whatever the fuck it is that goes on during some of the verses (pre-chorus?) but I enjoyed the chorus (which is good, considering its aggressiveness).
It's pretty good altogther, much better than 'We Owe This to Ourselves' anyways. Lyrics are good, too.
|
| |
I really wanted to like this, since I loved these guys back in the day when Cities was released. But since then, my musical taste has just gone absolutely insane and I just can't really find myself sitting through a 3 minute long track filled with a chorus, verse kinda structure... even though I'll listen to a song with 3 notes 10 times the length.
Sounds promising, though. But, I guess my preferences have just changed immensely since the last time I gave them a spin.
|
| |
great one, wowzies.
|
| |
LOL @Stokes
|
| |
Not bad, don't understand why everyone fists themselves when listening to this band though
|
| |
Finally got a chance to listen to this.
Love it so much.
|
| |
Well this song is definitely pretty good but it's not really noteworthy. They're better at making other styles of music (genres which some people don't like, like more poppy stuff). Although I agree that people shouldn't be fisting themselves over this song specifically
|
| |
because it's fucking good
|
| |
I actually like this a lot.
|
| |
I'll assume I'm the only person here put off by that prechorus then?
|
| |
My only hope for this song is that it is not supposed to be their energetic opener they commonly have on each album, otherwise I welcome it with loving arms.
|
| |
And yeah I never liked the fact they did Feel Good Drag twice.
That's like the biggest grumble I would have on Anberlin tho
|
| |
Fuck oh well great song
|
| |
"And yeah I never liked the fact they did Feel Good Drag twice.
That's like the biggest grumble I would have on Anberlin tho"
I assume it shut the record company up and gave the band artistic freedom to do what they want. I can't blame them there, although that album ended up being pretty poppy anyways.
@Lakes, alright hopefully then I'll grow into it.
|
| |
Still listening. So good.
|
| |
North0House I swear whenever I see you commenting its usually a post of sadness over a band you used to like
|
| |
"North0House I swear whenever I see you commenting its usually a post of sadness over a band you used to like"
Lol, it kind of is actually, you're right hahahaha. But, it's because a lot of the news articles are about some nostalgic bands of my past, and otherwise, I don't really post much anymore. But yeah... I guess you're right haha.
Cities still rules, oh man.
|
| |
"I assume it shut the record company up and gave the band artistic freedom to do what they want. I can't blame them there, although that album ended up being pretty poppy anyways."
i guess we certainly will never have to worry about throwing the Punk tag on the band's profile
meh
|
| |
@vanishingblueprints
This is not Stephen Christian's wife on this track.
@Nomos
So glad to know someone else likes their early stuff the best. I hate that they mellowed out too so this rules.
@xtoxin
It's so funny to me because you and I both love Anberlin but you like all the songs/parts that they do that I hate and vice versa haha. Every bit of this is superb. Literally the only reason I think Cities is their best album is because the slower songs were actually awesome (compared to those on other albums) and because it has *fin, otherwise their first two albums take the cake although I like DITW when I'm in that mood
|
| |
Gotta admit, Sprinkle's the shit
|
| |
"i guess we certainly will never have to worry about throwing the Punk tag on the band's profile"
That wasn't really a question though, was it? The closest thing these guys have put out to punk is pop-punk in their first two albums (especially Blueprints). I guess there are moments (Disappear, kind of) but I don't think punk would suit them anyways. If they're going to go energetic/aggressive, I'd personally much rather see them go the route of this song than punk.
"It's so funny to me because you and I both love Anberlin but you like all the songs/parts that they do that I hate and vice versa haha. Every bit of this is superb. I totally understand your viewpoint, but from a maturity standpoint, Cities made such a big leap that I can't really see the logic. The songs on DitW are so much better composed and conceived that I don't really see the argument on why you'd like the first two better, except for youthful energy. New Surrender was arguably a regression (I don't think so but I see the argument) though so I concede that. Anyways, as far as this song is concerned, I think we actually agree. It's grown on me immensely, in the weirdest way ever. From a traditional standpoint the prechorus isn't catchy but fuck, it's been stuck in my head for hours now.
|
| |
Drummer has pretty fast feet.
Always enjoyed this band, digging this.
|
| |
Yeah this is surprisingly pretty difficult to play on drums. It is a lot faster than you'd think
|
| |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JByFXrGRgcA
LOL
|
| |
Song isn't bad, but it really didn't do much for me either.
|
| |
That band pic is so bad
|
| |
Ha, he seems like an awesome guy and has a beautiful voice, but damn it Stephen Christian doesn't have looks going for him.
"yeah, i've tried to add pop punk as a secondary genre to the band page cuz of NTFP and blueprints, mods wouldn't have it though"
Can't blame them there, it'd be too misleading considering how far away from pop-punk DitW was.
|
| |
"ancient aliens dude"
The guy with the hair that always sticks up in the front? He rules.

'Someone Anyone' just went up on their website 15 minutes ago.

Link for the lazy!
|
| |
It's got a signature Anberlin verse... listening on shitty earphones so I'm not too sure about the
chorus. Also, yelling?
EDIT: Still sounds pretty Cities to me
|
| |
This is kinda late but, the one in pre-chorus is a backing vocal from Stephen's wife, not a synth.
|
| |
that might just make it creepier
|
| |
