The Offspring lose drummer?

2007-01-14 by Alex101 | 17 Comments
Punkbands.com reports: Angels and Airwaves bassist Ryan Sinn has confirmed that their drummer Atom Willard is no longer in The Offspring, who is currently gearing up for new album after a three year hiatus. No further more information on his departure is currently known.

Last year, there was some confusion over whether Willard was out of the band or not while he was involved in Angels and Airwaves. The Offspring's original drummer Ron Welty, who left the group in early 2003, was rumored to rejoin the band as Willard's replacement.

Despite the case about how Willard left the band or not, he confirmed that he was actually still in The Offspring while he was involved in Angels and Airwaves. He stated: "I am ABSOLUTELY NOT leaving the Offspring! I am very happy as someone said and plan to continue in that way! I have played with a lot of bands and I can honestly say... these guys are the shit. Super cool, super fun... what else is there?".

Well, I'm sure they'll find him. They just have retrace their steps.

Thats too bad for the Offspring, Willard is a pretty good drummer IMO.

I never heard any of his previous work before AVA. Did he previously record an album with The Offspring or would their upcoming album be his first? What other bands has he played for?

Well, he never actually played on the last Offspring album Splinter. Wikipedia says that the song "Can't Repeat", which appeared on Greatest Hits, was recorded during the Splinter-era. So, it is likely that the upcoming album will be his first (and probably last). This Message Edited On 01.14.07

Why would you say that?

Why I'm saying "first (and proably last)" is because of this article. The new album will probably be the last to feature Willard since his bassist for Angels and Airwaves said he's no longer in The Offspring.

if you want to see what he's capable of (i.e. not just a boring metronome for tom delonge), get "scream, dracula, scream" by rocket from the crypt.

Of course he's still in AVA they're the most amazing band of all time remember?

I'd have to say I think I'd rather have Blink 182 and the Offspring then AVA.

Tom's little amazing band is just wrecking all the good bands for everyone else.
