New Single for Modest Mouse

2007-01-03 by samthebassman | 9 Comments
Modest Mouse will release "dashboard", the first single from the forthcoming album "we were dead before the ship even sank", on January 16, but you can stream it now from the bands myspace page.
The band is said to be at their bounciest on the new single with a combination of disco strings, four to the floor beats and bright horns. The track has been said to have a Franz Ferdinand type of sound.

isn't the fella from the smiths playing on this album? or was that just a rumour.

i've only heard float on (or whatever its called), and it wasn't bad, but from hearing that, and a handful of smiths songs, i'm suprised they've gone for a franz ferdinand sound.

hell, even ONE franz ferdinand is too many!

samthebassman is basically just using pitchforkmedia for his source. it's only those guys that said it sounded like Franz Ferdinand, so there's probably hope yet.

Not that I listen to Modest Mouse or anything. And yes, that dude from the Smiths is in Modest Mouse (it's like Eddie Vedder joining Creed! / Dude, Creed broke up. / Yeah I know, it would mean Eddie Vedder would finally shut the fuck up)This Message Edited On 01.04.07

I think its a pretty good song, too poppy as far as most Great Modest Mouse, but not bad.

This is pretty good, Brock kinda sounds like David Byrne on this track. In fact, the whole thing kinda sounds like a Talking Heads B Side. Definitely not Franz Ferdinand.

the song is alright. It reflects alot of their album good news for people who like bad news..
I think we can all relate to how we felt when they first released float on..I wasn't very happy, especially because I was hearing Modest mouse ON THE RADIO? It didn't click. I was sad, but they needed it. They have been working so hard, it's about DAMN time they were recognized, so don't fret fellow Modest Mouse fans. I don't think their lyrics, or music will be too different, and if it is accept it as where they are at this point in time. So much has changed in the past 10 years...
