New Damon Albarn album

2012-03-22 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 26 Comments
Damon Albarn's new album, entitled Dr. Dee, will be released on 7th May. The record will contain 18 songs inspired by the life of the mathematician, polymath and Queen Elizabeth I's advisor John Dee. Described by Albarn himself as being "strange pastoral folk", Dr. Dee will reportedly combine early English choral and instrumental with modern, West African and Renaissance sounds.

Dr. Dee was recorded late last year in Albarn's West London studio and also in Salford with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. It was mixed by Valgeir Sigursson in Reykjavik.

Two video samples were uploaded so far of the recording sessions:

Albarn will perform songs from the album with the singers and musicians from the album, including Madou Diabate, at OneFest on 14th April 2012 and from June 25 to July 7, the Dr. Dee Opera can be seen at the London Coliseum.

@lance - they said recently the band is working on a few songs at times and if in time they gathered enough material, they'd might put it out

I love Gorillaz. The Good, The Bad and The Queen was alright. I've heard 3 songs by Blur, though i liked them all.
So yeah, I'll give this a listen when it comes out..

Definitely the hardest working dude in music business. I think everyone would like to see new blur material, but the movie and the single from a couple years ago are both relatively new for them considering they were defunct for nearly ten years prior.
