Yeah, I was listening to the Echoes one earlier today. Horrible stuff. "Initiation" is interesting though. Mostly just because of the vocal effects present in the original.

but no to those who don't "get it", it's not necessarily supposed to be complex. When DJ Screw did it back then, he would warp these tapes and vinyls and it would give this dreamy, swirling sound that could either be used for parties, postin up or just make it more soulful (you can see the latter in his One Day remix and a lot of Chopped&Screwed versions of R&B songs)

Originally this song was great, just this low-down gangsta theme song, but DJ Screw just turned it into this warped, sinister dark world of a hustla.

and now that a lot of today's production is a lot more lush and synthy, it's used to create these dreamy, hazy soundscapes along with giving the rapper/singer a more chill (to possibly dark or emotional) sound.

Idunno what you're talking about. I just have OG Ron C's remix of the House of Balloons album but Glass Table Girls, High for this, Wicked Games, Loft Party and DEEEEFINITELY The Party/The After Party sounds amazing screwed.

actually some tracks sound pretty sick, but some of them are awful.
