The XX stream new song

2011-12-26 by aok | 29 Comments
'Open Eyes', a new demo by the XX is streaming below. Jamie XX has claimed the band's next LP should be
released around summer 2012 and draw major influences from the club scene, but the new track suggests an
even more minimalist approach than they've taken in the past.

Sweet. Love this band. I'm looking forward to 2009 bands releasing new stuff.

That honestly wasn't very interesting.

There's a fine line between "minimalist" and "lazy".

Awesome. Their self-titled is a brilliant record. Here's hoping this is similar.

Well this is only a demo, so of course it's a little bare bones. News article should probably have mentioned that fact though

a little bare bones at this point, but what's important is a new LP in 2012

Not sure if all the sounds in the background were on purpose, but I think it could be cool if they expand on that idea for this song. Make the echo more distant and add some muffled traffic noise and it would sound like she's singing it underneath an overpass.

Overrated, minimalism bordering on just being as lazy as possible & seeing what they can get away with.

Not interesting
Not talented
Boring
Hipster trife

Don't get me wrong, the debut was brilliant, but this... this is not interesting. The background sounds are muddled and unorganized, the guitar is overly simplistic, and the dual singing dynamic that makes up the best moments in their debut is AWOL. This is just objectively a poor track.

Not gonna listen to the demo but since Fantasy was my favourite track on their self-titled I'm totally keen for this more minimalist approach

Sounds like the groundwork for some nice dream pop imo.

I was expecting a song behind that link, but there was really nothing there that you can call a song.
