People are dumb as fuck if they watch mainstream news coverage in the U.S. If you want an even view you have to go outside the U.S., to the BBC or Routers. In the U.S. news is just propaganda disguised as entertainment.

the BBC isn't that even. I mean, in a politically balanced sense they are but they avoid reporting on a lot of issues so it doesn't make them very good to find out about the world either. if you want information, you have to go get it yourself on the internet

Comparing fox to cnn etc. is silly. Sure there may be bias, but it's nowhere near as farcical as it is on fox. The only news station that made me physically facepalm every time I've watched it.

I turn on CNN and they're spitting out bullshit and outrageous things like, "Republicans WANT our economy to go down the shitter," which is absurd. Not really. They say a lot of absurd things, yeah, but there are two factors at work there.
1) You see whenever FOX says something ridiculous being parodied on Youtube, CNN, The Daily Show, etc. etc.
2) (Assuming you're a liberal) you have a confirmation bias that FOX is ridiculous that forces you to forget whenever they're not being ridiculous (usually most of the time)

I mean I don't mean to defend them but really, the idea that they're the worst is ridiculous. NBC is easily the worst out there in terms of ridiculousness, but the fact that they're left means people agree with them.

CNN isn't really all that bad, but what everyone says about American news being bullshit is true. That's why I don't care about politics. At the end of the day my vote is one of 100 million (or 1 million or 10 thousand depending on what level of government it is) and I'd rather spend my time elsewhere instead of politics where it matters

That said, FOX is pretty ridiculous. Mediators never mediate, they always have a side and will try to push the audience to one side's agenda instead of mediating. False information is constantly reported and when refuted is simply ignored, (Glen Greenwald vs Jessica Yellin on youtube if you want an example) Anchors and talk show hosts are pretty much blatant rating whores and try to get way too much input into the stories they are reporting. But like I said, none of the other stations are really too much better, FOX is just usualy funny when they show their bias.

I will attempt to point out the fact that the American economy going completely down the shitter would be the equivalent of pouring rocket fuel into the Republican engine. It's a zero sum game to them my partisan friend, and the 'little man' is not playing. I have seen, watched, and read more than my fair share of news networks and I can tell you that Fox is easily the least professional in its handling of real world events. And I'm not talking about goddamn Adam Levine. A substantial minority in America actually takes crass clowns like Glenn Beck seriously, and it's the Murdoch machine that puts people like him and Hannity up on the pedestal. Maybe the man just wants to watch the world burn. And you can bet your single-ply wiped piss-poor asses that he didn't give a fuck about the NotW exposes. The man owns more shit that most of us can comprehend. He's still a power player. And people with his power and attitude are a far greater threat to integrity itself than any of your squabbling little politicos are to the continued running of the world economy. As an American, I stopped giving a shit about what Fox, CNN, NBC, or really any other "news" program had to say on world affairs. Far too often it was easy to notice the reporter's bias in the story, some facts being off (or completely left out), and major political agendas being shoved down the peoples' throats by these rating driven news outlets.

It's almost impossible to get truly non-biased and straight to the point news, but I find that NPR, BBC World News, and Al Jazeera to name a few genuinely present the stories as they are with minimal bias, and it's damn hard to entirely pick out when a political agenda is being furthered.

FOX News pulls just as much shit as every other American news outlet guys, that's the fact. The only reason I hate FOX more so than the other networks is that their opinion pieces, the guys like Glenn Beck, piss me the fuck off because of they're non sensical ramblings, hate mongering, and general stupidity that unfortunately gets passed along into the stupid American public.

Of all those who strive for journalistic integrity, few stand out from the crowd. NPR, BBC, and AJ are excellent news sources, as are a few others like Der Spiegel (from what I have read of them). But not even they can touch the pinnacle of news perfection, the point at which anything they say can be trusted without question. No ladies and gentlemen, the true bastion of honesty in this murky, slimy world is: The Onion.
