2010: had to have some of his thyroid removed due to suspicious cells
2021: pheochromocytoma first found after he was discovered unresponsive at home. Had emergency surgery to remove it
2022: pheochromocytoma found again in his spine
2023: pheochromocytoma found in his lungs and back, had to start chemo
2026, March: emergency surgery after 3 tumours were discovered in his brain
2026, April: metastatic pheochromocytoma had progressed to stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma


Dude fought cancer with everything he had but it just kept coming back

As someone who grew up in south florida in the 90s and early 00s, Shai Hulud was and still is extremely important to me. Formative is putting it lightly. I was at NFG's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" release party.

Big RIP. I was a big NFG guy in my teens. Caught them pre-pandemic when they toured both Sticks and Stones and Catalyst together and hats off, their energy levels blew me away. Smashed a 2 hour set and killed it. Also caught Shail Hulud when they were touring Reach Beyond The Sun (though they were a support band), I think Chad was with them then and they also fucked hard.

Also seemed like he was a pretty stand up guy. Gone too soon.

Absolute legend. His comeback performance in Reach Beyond the Sun was crushing.

A true fighter both in the pit and in life. RIP

i realize now just how influential to my music taste dude was, both NFG and Shai Hulud were some of the most foundational bands both in getting me through the door and making me rethink my music taste respectively, he was here, alive, with all of us, and I for one will remember, thanks Chad.
