Well, that's not correct. Martin says that on this record he was actually more of a co-writer than a producer. He's been ridiculously involved.

Well let's hope this does not suck. I did not like Teardrop at first, but it kinda grew on me after I herad Major Minus and Moving to Mars. Because before that I suspected that the whole album would be as upbeat and poppy like this but since I heard Major Minus and Moving to Mars I kinda like Teardrop a bit. Very energetic.(gaawd those lyrics are still terrible) Still... I highly doubt that they will reach the heights of Viva La Vida and Death and all of his friends again. (Violet Hill, Death and all of his Friends, Lovers in Japan, Strawberry Swing were pretty amazing)

However, Parachutes is gorgeous. I hope they go back to their roots and play in the more minor tone that Parachutes had... But, based on this album title and their recent singles, I'm thinking this is gonna suck.

so i don't get it, is the album cover the right image, the left one, or both? but legit i'm a pretty big coldplay fan, but only got into them in '09, so this is the first time i've actually anticipated new stuff from them. even though the single's pretty shitty, i still can't wait for this album.

The whole point of Teardrop is, I think, that you can find beauty in things that shallow. Lyrically, I think it's brilliant, it fits the tone of the song superbly. It's a song which manages to keep your attention focussed on what's happening right now from start to finish.

well they're not gonna, and if they do, they're just gonna get shit for not changing it up. i agree, parachutes is an amazing album and viva/the mx songs thus far sound nothing like it, but i really respect the leaps they've made over the years. the instrumentation and balls viva had was shocking compared to their past work, and i've learned to just go w/ whatever sound this band comes out w/ and give it a shot, cuz i've been a fan of nearly everything they've come up w/ thus far.

Ah, but I really wish they did... Now they're just kinda falling into the common mold of mainstream artists, at least in my opinion. Yeah, I recognize the changes they're implementing into their music, and I respect that. However, I don't feel like adding in computerized synths or whatever they've been doing lately is music... I just want them to break out their guitars, drums, bass, and play an emotionally charging song with Martin's great vocals like they did on Parachutes. I know that won't happen again, but I do hope that somehow they'll embrace that more natural side again, because I think that's their best side.

I'm generally pretty optimistic about this album, I dont really understand why Coldplay is so hated. If you dont like what they do, don't concern yourself with them. I'm excited to see where they will take their music next. The new songs show a change in direction and i think it will be worth while to see where they take their evolution as a band !
