Anyone who thinks they've gone 'downhill' since Vheissu just doesn't like that they don't play straight-up post-hardcore any more which is totally fine but suggesting they've gotten bad is ridiculous. Beggars and Alchemy were superb albums.

and imo, beggars was about on par with vheissu.

Kind of boring, but also kind of cool. There is no doubt in my mind that this will kick ass.

Also, Vheissu is my favourite, but Beggars is also incredible. I can't see how they've gotten any worse since Vheissu.

vheissu has some of their best songs but also some of their worst. i loved beggars. stoked for this.

as many people love thrice on sputnik it seems to be the main point of attack for trolls. anytime i argue with someone they mention that i 5'd vheissu and beggars... either way, kinda dull album cover but i'm sure the album will consume me till the end of the year

I don't like post-hardcore Thrice, but they're boring as fuck. They were irritating before, found a decent spot on
Vheissu, then continued to fucking suck after that. Beggars was a piece of shit. As was the pretentious Alchemy Index
(a failure of epic proportions).

I like it, it implies a very simplistic album, at least in my opinion.
I bought Artist in the Ambulance awhile ago, and I don't really like it, but I love the Alchemy Indexes. I genuinely hope this has a subdued Southern feel with some simple acoustics and the occasional hardcore outburst or something. That'd be so cool...

I've always been half and half with these guys.
I like the Alchemy Indexes, sorta like Beggars, and I'm not entirely sure of how I feel about their earlier releases... So, I always hope they'll release something great, but I never really expect that I'll be a big fan.

I can tell exactly what this album is going to sound like based on its album cover. Really.

The Alchemy Index, while it is both incredibly ambitious and successful at fulfilling said ambitions, is ultimately flawed in certain places. It would have been stronger if some of the songs were cut, maybe one from each EP? "As The Crow Flies" and "The Earth Isn't Humming" definitely weaken Earth and Air, and while Fire and Water are quite solid, I can't help but think that they would both benefit from a little less weight.

Beggars was definitely hurt by the leak; parts of it definitely sound like Thrice was going to rework them. However, clunky moments like "Talking Through Glass / We Move Like Swingsets" are what really kill Beggars.

Vheissu isn't Thrice's best work. True, they show that they can experiment and it sounds damn fine. However, many of the time signature changes are very easy to notice, and some of the songs have a tendency to cave in on themselves.

Now, I'm being a bit harsh here. Thrice is by far my favorite band. However, I just wanted to input the fact that the Illusion of Safety is their best work by far.

True ! The Fragile's cover art was designed by David Carson, who's one of the greatest modern designers.

However, I just wanted to input the fact that the Illusion of Safety is their best work by far.

Vheissu is my favorite of theirs and there are lots of parallels between the production process on this and Vheissu, which is exciting.

For Vheissu, the band wrote for like six months, and for a portion of that they were all separated, writing their own stuff so they could come together and truly bring a lot of different feels to the album. They did that for this, too. They also tracked a lot of stuff live for Vheissu, like Teppei, Eddy and Riley all in one room playing together and they did a lot of that for this as well.

Just a couple more reasons to be stoked outta my mind...

Since this will be my first Thrice album I will have ever listened to, it's good to know that the cover art is really cool.
