wahoo!. young modern is a great album and abuse me is still a great track!
| |
abuse me.. ya.. definitely their best song...
| |
Best news I've heard all day.
| |
Frogstomp and Freak Show are both ace.
| |
silverchair hasnt been relevent since 99.
| |
Horrible news
| |
nah this breakup was overdue
| |
Awful, awful news. Loved Young Modern, and Frogstomp was mind blowing to me.
| |
Finally.
| |
Silverchair... Iron Thrones... I hadn't heard of this band before now, but they've got an awfully parallel name to Iron Thrones.
| |
comment here = a week's ban
| |
Didn't know they were still around.
| |
Young Modern is such an underrated album
| |
Whoa, I thought they broke up years ago.
Weird.
| |
Haha the infamous -
But yeah, sad but was coming.
| |
Oh well, they had a good run
| |
Whoa, I thought they broke up years ago.
Weird.[2]
| |
1996 rocked.
| |
i actually listened to them a bunch for the first time in years. bummer.
| |
They were amazing back in the day, but their new stuff is really quite average so I'm not too sad.
| |
hibernation
| |
I only know this band because they're the deleted album band with the frog picture
| |
yeah you would
| |
I only know this band because they're the deleted album band with the frog picture
they were more than that I tell you, MORE THAN THAT
| |
Never got into this band but I did originally think they already broke up.
| |
They were on hiatus for a while. Then they came back to release Young Modern which was pretty average sandwich.
| |
I had no idea they were still a band. I enjoyed Frogstomp when I was a teenager.
| |
I remember hearing about this band for the first time when i was in seventh grade. Never listened to them though.
not third eye blind so I will survive. [2]
| |
Diorama and Neon Ballroom were great.
| |
Young modern was great, I have no idea anyone would think otherwise... 20 years is long overdue for a breakup
| |
Guys Diorama fucking rules.
| |
Indefinite hiatus' suck ass. It's either you break up or you're on break (regular hiatus). Done and done.
Sad news. Liked all of their albums, loved a few of them.
| |
So overplayed in Aus
| |
Neon Ballroom is an amazing album, its a shame to see these guys go.
| |
totally submitted this before doug
also this is not a break up per se http://twitter.com/#!/BenGillies888/status/73676989634060288
also while we're on the subject of news how come my news about the new gotye album never got submitted
| |
also also just to get things straight: frogstomp sucks, freak show is okay, neon ballroom is great, diorama is amazing, young modern is really good. definitive, motherfuckers.
| |
Sad news is sad
also also just to get things straight: frogstomp sucks, freak show is okay, neon ballroom is great, diorama is amazing, young modern is really good. definitive, motherfuckers.
And Spare arrives with the balls to say what we're all thinking. Been listening to Young Modern again and it honestly isn't as bad as I remember it.
| |
still have a soft spot for this band. news sucks
| |
Bad news. But what about the new album? Will it be released?
| |
I'm doubting that it will, paxman
| |
Young Modern sucked and there's been no news about them for years, so this is probably long overdue. Diorama was fucking awesome though.
| |
Anyone who thinks Young Modern is great needs to be shot in the face. Straight Line(s) is one of the worst songs ever made. There is a reason that people forgot about Silverchair after the 90's.
It's the classical example of what happens to a depressed rock band who makes a lot of money. They get over that time and start writing queer songs about walking in a straight line while looking/singing like they belong in a gay bar.
Happy (read: overgayed) that they broke up.
| |
young modern wasn't that bad
neon ballroom and diorama are incredible albums
i keep forgetting that outside of australia these guys never existed past 1997, which is when they actually started making great stuff.
| |
I never thought anything after Neon Ballroom was good. Diorama had a couple of good songs, but I literally took that album back to Sanity after playing it through 5 times and got my money back.
It was mostly because I overhyped it to myself while I had it preordered.
| |
They shall live on for time immemorial Frogstomping deleted reviews
| |
There is a reason that people forgot about Silverchair after the 90's. diorama reached #1 on the aria chards, was certified triple platinum, won 5 aria awards and was nominated for highest selling album in 2003. young modern won album of the year, rock album of the year and won them best group at the arias in 2007 and straight lines won highest selling single and single of the year. straight lines was the most played song on australian radio that year, charted at #2 in the triple j hottest 100, and was certified double platinum equalling tomorrow as their best selling single.
pretty sure people didn't forget about them bro.
| |
Frogstomp'd
| |
Happy (read: overgayed) that they broke up. and what does this even mean
| |
I only know one song from these guys (The Greatest View).
| |
To be brutally honest, i couldn't care less.
| |
Aw man, that sucks. Frogstomp and Freak were both incredible albums. Everything else was decent to pretty good as well.
| |
Yeah. Terrible news. Diorama was definitely their best. Also, Young Modern is underrated as fuck.
| |
We'll make it up to you in the year two thousand...
| |
Lol i had no idea this band still made music
| |
bout time
| |
That's sucks IMO
| |
Eh, they were becoming too ambitious for their own good. And while I admire the fact that they were willing to branch out and try something different...it wasn't good. It just wasn't. So this is probably for the best.
| |
Best news ive heard this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STOKED.. YEH.
| |
I saw them at this Groovin' the Moo festival us country hicks in Australia get in the small towns last year, and they played the new stuff they'd been writing and it really, really was not good. It was happy, and electro-poppy... this here is a good thing, them breaking up. Still, Neon Ballroom and Diorama are two of my favorite albums ever.
| |
Comment here = 1 week ban
| |
bring it on
| |
For whatever reason I own all their albums, good band, but awful live when I saw them. The bassist looked bored out of his brain.
| |
someday I will reform this band, with my brothers
| |
WAIT 'TILL TOMORROOOOOOW
| |
"It was happy, and electro-poppy"
Because that's totally a bad thing. Are you still hung up on the fact that they're not ripping off Nirvana any more?
"For whatever reason I own all their albums, good band, but awful live when I saw them. The bassist looked bored out of his brain."
You must have caught them on an off night, they were epic when I saw them.
| |
"I'm doubting that it will, paxman"
Well, from what I read on their website a while back, if I remember correctly I'm pretty sure the album was finished. I could be wrong.
| |
Bit stupid to break up without releasing an album that they just finished.
| |
It is weird that they played a few gigs last year and then decided to call it quits though. Surely they had a couple of things recorded.
| |
read the whole article on their website dude
| |
They were running dry anyway
| |
Diorama was a really really great album. Everything else they released is kinda bad, except maybe Neon Ballroom which has some good tracks
| |
kinda liked them! diorama, neon ballroom were excellent!
| |
@spare
people didn't forget about them? you only mentioned australia, which makes no sense if you're playing the popularity game.
no one else knows about young modern because it sucks.
| |
yeah fuck australia it's only an entire continent america is the only country that counts
| |
I don't think the new album was finished.
| |
have a cry, spare. life must be so hard.
| |
I only love their earlier work, but either way, I find it sad that they disbanded. Not only that, but Daniel's apparently working on a solo album that I highly doubt I'll like. It might seem unfair to be so quick to judge, but seeing how he and the band have been ever since the 90s ended, I don't think I'll care for his new stuff.
Oh, and to be honest, they did lose relevancy at least in the U.S. The first three albums sold well enough, but after that, I guess America wasn't interested. Did their last two albums even chart in America? Probably not, I imagine.
