oooo. right on, will listen now.
| |
Not bad so far, but I prefer my post-rock a little more slow-paced.
| |
Oh yes
| |
not quite as good as "sing the word hope..." but still awesome
| |
their weakest album so far probably
| |
Will give this a spin tomorrow evening, I wasn't even expecting this so yay.
| |
Not quite as good as Sing the Word Hope... but awesome nonetheless. These guys and ASIWYFA and the future of post-rock imo.
| |
yess
| |
This is ground M83 has tread upon many times.
| |
fuck yes
| |
inb4 Knott
can't wait to stream this, gonna rule
| |
"Pretty much a tie with Sing the Word Hope."
nice, that's all I can ask for (I'd even settle for something significantly worse, that album was incredible)
Listening to this now, the opening is beautiful.
| |
^agree completely xeno
| |
I already pre-ordered this, it's cool to have a listen to it in advance though. I really love Sing The Word Hope... and am
pretty excited.
Starting the stream now
EDIT: Seems a bit more "laid back" compared to Sing The Word Hope, more like Last Time This Year or Our History Will
Be What We Make It than Co-Conspirators, but I like what I hear so far.
| |
this is compositionally better and better produced than sing the world hope. as you said it just doesn't have the same energy
the 10th track here is a problem IMO, the heavy riffs don't really fit in with the sound of the rest of the album
| |
Not For Want Of Trying is their best
| |
agreed^
| |
their weakest but it's still good
| |
I'm definitely in the minority with this opinion: but this is my favorite of theirs yet. Heard it a few times through and have the desire for many more... I'd love to be able to review this if I have time this week
| |
it's missing some samples
| |
Relative Minors is incredible. This isn't - I don't think - as good as STWH, but we'll see.
| |
yea relative minors rules
| |
this is so so so good, I think it might be better that STWHIFPH. I'm liking it better so far anyway (on my second listen) and I LOVED "Sing..."
| |
there's definitely more to listen to here from a harmonic and compositional perspective. STWH ruled but at times wasn't fleshed out enough
| |
I liked the aggressiveness of STWH, the angst-filled political rants mainly, I thought they were really well done. That being said, I'm glad they moved from that approach a little bit.
This album just makes me so fucking happy I could cry, parts of it are just gorgeous. Seriously, what is with this band and their ability to make me weep like a fucking baby?
| |
I have listened to it only once yet but I also think by now it kinda lacks energy. But I'm gonna give a few more spins.
| |
Great, I like this up beat style that they have.
| |
i hate this bands name
| |
first listen and i love this.
| |
yeah it's not a very good name. good thing the music is incredible.
| |
yeah im gonna check this out
| |
yeah band name is unfortunately thte worst thing about them
| |
"yeah band name is unfortunately thte worst thing about them"
I'd say that's fortunate, not unfortunate. If their name wasn't the worst thing about them I'd probably hate their music.
| |
i dont know they could all be fat instead of having a shitty name or something
| |
hahahahaha
"This band rules but they're all lardasses. Hmmm, pass"
| |
it's alright
| |
lol this is not even close to their previous two albums . 3.5 max
| |
it's alright [2]
i was just about to say that =]
| |
awesome can knott wait to listen
| |
awesome! will give it a listen tonight. These guys never disappoint.
| |
its got its flaws, like how some of their songs lost that individuality and diversity in structure, but fuck, its still great and has moments where my jaw literally dropped.
| |
Completely agree with what NeutralThunder just said. Really really good overall.
| |
i was just about to say that =]
i like it when people agree with me :]
noctus is always right :]
always :]
| |
except when noctus is wrong about this album
and agalloch
| |
always :]
| |
really digging this
| |
just finished listening. as expected, not disappointed at all.
| |
Pretty awesome so far. I definitely agree with the lack of samples comment.
| |
i personally think it's good that they didn't rehash the things that made their past work novel
| |
Yeah album rules.
| |
this is fucking great
| |
Not quite as good as Sing the Word Hope... but awesome nonetheless. These guys and ASIWYFA and the future of post-rock imo.
| |
They've opted for a more synthetic sound overall. It still works fine, I was just kinda hoping for at least a couple of straight up aggressive songs. It doesn't matter too much since they nailed a lot of passages on here.
Still, this has been the only post-rock release this year that has interested me. Go check out the video for Critical Distance if you haven't. It's pretty cool.
| |
Aw no love for Vessels, Powerban?
| |
Actually thanks for reminding me about Vessels. I have Helioscope sitting on my computer but I haven't been able to sit down and give it a good listen.
| |
I think I may like White Fields just a tiny bit more, but I'd recommend Helioscope. It's one of the more unique releases of 2011.
| |
I think I actually like this more than Sing.
| |
am loving this.
| |
The last 2 minutes of "Red Paper Lanterns" makes me smile
| |
Loving the album. I like the direction they are going in.
| |
I'm really excited for this album, I have it on preorder!
| |
jeebus Relative Minors is such an awesome song
| |
I don't know how I missed this. I am loving this album so far.
