Cool cover. Probably wont check this out.
|
| |
This will be somewhere between mediocre and terrible, and we all know it.
|
| |
Pretty atrocious album title
|
| |
ASOP wasn't great! Don't have high expectations for this tbh
|
| |
I'll check this out, since I did quite enjoy ASOP.
My hopes aren't that high, but I'll see what happens when the single gets released...
|
| |
we'll see how it works out.
|
| |
nice album cover, terrible album name. I hope this is better than ASOP but i dont expect this to be very good.
|
| |
Pretty atrocious album title [2]
|
| |
lol this band.
|
| |
me likes the artwork, hopefully it wont be the only thing cool about the album
|
| |
awful, the cover art will easily be the best part of this album
|
| |
Jester's Door better be an instrumental.
|
| |
Hopefully this sounds more like Come Clarity than ASOP. Would be unrealistic to expect Colony part 2, although that would slay.
|
| |
I really hope this doesnt suck, but it probably will
|
| |
I'm still laughing with this title.
|
| |
1.5/5
|
| |
asop was 1.5/5 (at best), this is gonna be worse
|
| |
Yeah, album cover's actually not bad. Title and tracklist are just lol though. Don't really have any hope for this at all. I think Jesper leaving was the nail in the coffin.
|
| |
Honestly think the album art isn't that great.
|
| |
Cool cover. I don't have that high of expectations due to ASOP being an almost complete shitfest, and now with Jesper being gone, I feel they may be doomed. I'll check it out anyway though. I just hope it doesn't end up being as bad or worse than ASOP.
|
| |
Album art is pretty sick, but yeah, this will probably be horrible.
|
| |
If it's as good as Come Clarity I'll be a happy man.
|
| |
sounds of a playground...
|
| |
don't really like the cover art...this better be good!
|
| |
Yeah this is gonna be terrible.
|
| |
this is some bullshit
|
| |
I am only interested because they have said some tracks will be "typical In Flames". I hope this means more Clayman and Come Clarity than ASOP and STYE
|
| |
Every band says that, and then it ends up sounding nothing like what they said it would.
|
| |
yea, usual bullshit like "newfound dynamics in our sound" and "pushing the boundaries of the genre"
also known as The Unspoken King
|
| |
let's back to some Colony, shall we?
|
| |
Should've stopped before Reroute To Remain. But at least we still have everything up to Clayman to remember what once was...
Still, can't help but at least hope this isn't complete trash.
|
| |
High hopes, low expectations
|
| |
"lol this band."
You cannot lol at a band that put out so many amazing/influential albums regardless of where they
stand now
|
| |
Eh they've always been pretty overrated to me. Everyone seems to think of The Jester Race as one of the best melo-death albums ever and I just don't see that.
|
| |
The Jester Race was great but it was more influential than anything in my opinion. It was one of those albums that was all about "right place, right time."
Anyways I'm gone from this post. The more time I spend on a new In Flames release the more I think about it. And the more I think about it, the sadder I become.
|
| |
Interesting album art. Title and song names turn me off, but I'll still probably check it out since I'm one of the few who liked ASoP.
|
| |
should have broken up after R2R
|
| |
Must be the only one who is excited for this. Album cover rules!
|
| |
0.2/5
|
| |
Cover is kinda cool, album title is lolbad. :-( I hate Come Clarity, so I hope it sounds nothing like that whine and cheese fest.
|
| |
Funny. I was just thinking about writing up a list of terrible album titles.
As far as this band is concerned? Eh. I've tried getting into them in the past, and Colony is a pretty sweet album, but i truthfully can't say i have any desire to listen to them at this point. As far as metal is concerned, these guys are a little too basic for me. And keep in mind, i havent even HEARD their last album, which i've heard was apparently dumbed down a lot from their previous stuff...
|
| |
Whatever, I like them. I even really enjoyed ASOP, so I'm kind of looking forward to this too. They haven't really disappointed me because I can actually accept that they've moved on from their old sound and improved in different ways.
Even I've got to admit that title is pretty...ehhhhh.....
|
| |
I wanna hear #11 already.
|
| |
I'll check it out, but my expectations aren't too high, but hopefully they'll have taken some hints from their fans and abandonded their emo-esque approach they took with ASOP and head back towards their origional melodic death elements.
But yeah, kinda creepy title.
|
| |
only awesome thing about this album will probably be the artwork... music is gonna suck.
|
| |
Yeah, probably so. Reguardless, I'll still give it a listen, I did like a few tracks on ASOP after all.
|
| |
Goddamnit these guys suck now.
|
| |
I actually like the album name. Cover is decent too, but not what I was expecting. Song names kinda suck though
|
| |
I think they can think of a better metaphor for fading innocence than a playground.
Album cover is pretty cool though.
|
| |
The Puzzle? Really?
DARKER TIMEZZZZZ
ALL FOR MEEEEH
5. Fear Is The Weakness, didn't they have a song called that already? Or am I mixing somtehing up? =
|
| |
Random fact: "Sounds of a playground fading" is a (slightly) modified quote from Children of Men.
|
| |
I'm looking forward to this
|
| |
http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=155956
"We have some songs that pretty much go against the hard rock formula," he said. "There's a song called 'The Attic' where we have an accordion playing the chorus instead of me singing it. Another song begins with a spoken-word part that evolves into a kind of hard DEPECHE MODE-type thing. We also have some really fast, typical IN FLAMES tunes.
Accordion... spoken word passages..."hard rock"... yep this is sounding like a winner already. -_- Again, not that i was a fan to begin with, but all signs are currently pointing to this being a disaster.
|
| |
As an long-time In Flames fan I am stoked however ASOP was kind of terrible so I am worried about what this will sound like. From what I have read they are going for more of a rock sort of style on this album. Could get ugly.
|
| |
I'm just praying it's at least decent.
|
| |
i dont give up hope until track 3 or 4
|
| |
oh god, i just realized something else in that quote...
a kind of hard DEPECHE MODE-type thing.
......CRABCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
This will be somewhere between mediocre and terrible, and we all know it. [2]
I'll buy this because I love In Flames, but with each new album I'm having more trouble justifying that.
|
| |
Won't be that good, I'm sure. I will check it out still.
|
| |
ITS IN MY AAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
seriously though, hope this doesn't suck.
|
| |
Awesome cover art, but it seems that generally albums with awesome album art suck ass.
|
| |
Album art isn't terrible but it's too Korn inspired for my liking.
Seriously though, this is gonna fail hard. I think I remembering reading somewhere that the growls (if you can even call them growls anymore) were gonna be really limited on this album.
They just need to retire IF and start a new project if they're gonna keep going down this mediocre road...
|
| |
oh god, i just realized something else in that quote...
a kind of hard DEPECHE MODE-type thing.
......CRABCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an idiot
|
| |
I'll probably listen to this and feel bad about it after.
|
| |
My main problem with A Sense of Purpose was that it sounded so tired and passionless. It was as if they weren't doing what they really wanted to do and tried to release and album that pleased both fans of their old melodic death metal days and their new metalcore sound but failed in doing ether. Even if this veers away from metal entirely, at least they seem 100% more passionate about this record and are at least doing what they want to do. I would rather have a weird Depeche Mode inspired record than some half-assed middle of the road bullshit.
|
| |
Not a single part of that last album was trying to satisfy their old fans. Just saying
|
| |
They cut out a lot of their clean vocals and there were songs on the album in which the riffing was highly reminiscent to a watered down version of what they were doing on Clayman.....
|
| |
It's still a stretch though. The vocals were terrible no matter what was done
|
| |
yea, usual bullshit like "newfound dynamics in our sound" and "pushing the boundaries of the genre"
also known as The Unspoken King
^This made me laugh so hard.
|
| |
cover reminds me of korn for some reason.
and I am a huge in flames cover but their last releases haven't been great. Come Clarity was pretty good though compared to the other two.
|
| |
"4. The Puzzle"
OMG
|
| |
Yeah, I'm really liking the cover too.
|
| |
i had no idea In Flames had a new album coming out. fucking yesss.
|
| |
Jester Race was impeccable. Everything else these guys have released has been meh.
|
| |
Close...
[A]http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/7818/downinflames.jpg[/A]
|
| |
"cover reminds me of korn for some reason. "
Remember Korn IIIs album cover?
Compared with 'Sounds of a Playground Fading'?
yeaaaaaaaaaaah
|
| |
This will probably as bad as the last album. A few years back I saw them 4 times in a year and loved it and It sucks I don't even want to listen to them anymore.
|
| |
I hope that it will be far better than the last one...
And andres has lost his voice, it's terrible now...
and : "yea, usual bullshit like "newfound dynamics in our sound" and "pushing the boundaries of the genre"
also known as The Unspoken King"
=> lol
|
| |
Riffs on the studio video they posted today sound alright, in the vein of Come Clarity. This probably won't touch that album though.
|
| |
Yeah, this will be awful. Terrible. Worst thing ever. Hate In Flames. Put them in jail. Kill them. Hitler had more redeeming features. Yeah.
Do you know what?
I LIKE IN FLAMES.
I also don't give a flying aardvark's dropping for those of you who constantly criticise everything they do...
*flutters eyelashes*
|
| |
'A Sense of Purpose' was terrible. Low expectations for this
|
| |
gonna SUCK
|
| |
We could maybe hope Daniel has decided to take up singing again. After hearing Sacrilege recently, maybe phasing Anders out is exactly what they need to do and not opt for the more commercial route as they seem to be doing....
|
| |
I liked asop. This will be different and yeah the album title is stupid. It wont be anything like cc or asop that's a given.
|
| |
Why do bands release the tracklist of a bunch of songs no one has heard yet?
|
| |
Does anyone even expect anything good from this band at this point? They have been releasing trash for a long time now. As far as I'm concerned the vocals have been what has ruined this band. He can't sing for shit and that seems like what he's trying to do. I love The Jester Race. That cd is a classic. I enjoyed everything up til Reroute to Remain. That cd sucked also. But hey they're making more money now than ever probably so why would they go back to their roots and make a solid melodic metal cd?
|
| |
sounds of a playground fading...
are you fucking serious?
They are seriously fucking _____
|
| |
Ships don't dwell.
|
| |
come clarity was good. But the rest of their recent output has been questionable at best...
|
| |
Ordered it. Have only modest expectations. This is their last chance with me as far as CD purchases go. The last couple of albums have been less than mediocre. I'll always check them out on tour though. Great live act.
|
| |
lol who would actually BUY this seriously
|
| |
Sounds like it's going to be one child-molesting good time.
|
| |
hard
|
| |
"Sounds like it's going to be one child-molesting good time."
If that involves sucking, then yes.
|
| |
Oh they'll be sucking alright...
|
| |
"lol who would actually BUY this seriously"
Who would actually spend time posting on a blog about an album he/she has no intention of buying and/or listening to. You don't like them and aren't interested in their new release? We get it. Come on, you can be a dick, but at least don't fail the basic logic test.
|
| |
gonna suck!
|
| |
"lol who would actually BUY this seriously"
The tweens who love new in flames and know nothing of their earlier work/don't want to because they're afraid at how confusing and melodic it is.
|
| |
I haven't heard all of their earlier stuff, but even The Jester Race is overrated IMO. Still really good, but overrated nonetheless. Whoracle is where it's at for me.
|
| |
I find Whoracle and Colony their best sounding work. Now that Jesper's gone this band is officially dead to me.
|
| |
tjr for life
|
| |
GOD this band sucks!!!!11!1
|
| |
They're keeping the same way of writing their name as ASOP so I'm banking on a continuation of that
sound.
Either way I'm looking forward to it though, fuck tha haters.
Actually, just watched the webisode and read a few things, and this is sounding far more promising.
Although much less harsh vocals might be dodgy.
|
| |
Whoracle and Colony are the best. This album cover looks good, but i also liked Soundtracks cover too...
|
| |
Fully agree about Whoracle and Colony.
|
| |
"The tweens who love new in flames and know nothing of their earlier work/don't want to because they're afraid at how confusing and melodic it is."
Tone down the condescending judgment just a notch or two. Plenty of us older fans still go out and purchase the newer albums in the hope that somehow they will return to their glory years. No need to be a snob.
|
| |
Watch this get worse combined review than Justin Bieber's Debut. It probably going to sound just as painful.
|
| |
this looks horrible
|
| |
I can't wait!
|
| |
They should've quit years ago,..
|
| |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9NLT0-UY3U
A small preview from "Deliver us".
Kinda like it
|
| |
I'll always check them out on tour though. Great live act.
Really? I saw them on their ASOP tour and they sucked so badly. They had this air of knowing that they were Gothenburg godfathers and took that as an excuse to barely do anything onstage.
Gojira blew them away completely.
|
| |
This band has never impressed me but I'll still probably check it out atleast.
|
| |
@Detriment
I'm not really surprised. I hated ASOP, so I only went to see them since I'm too young to have seen them in their peak, much less in Europe. But, yeah, bad performers who are also obviously arrogant? Ugh, no thanks.
|
| |
fuck this band
|
| |
I don't know what it was about them, but i hated the vocals in that clip that was posted. They just sounded very... idk, forced?
I couldn't listen to a whole album of that. Not that i was going to in the first place.
|
| |
Sounds good. Glad they are still moving forward from their earlier stuff which was pretty bad.
|
| |
have they revealed that it's a steaming pile of shit yet or are they saving that surprise for the release date
|
| |
That shouldn't be a surprise.
|
| |
ughh
|
| |
maybe the surprise is the japanese b-side "crawling in my skin" ft. jonathan davis and skrillex
|
| |
After hearing the clip my hopes for this are very low. Real shame, this was my favorite band for a few years.
|
| |
oh god
|
| |
"Really? I saw them on their ASOP tour and they sucked so badly. They had this air of knowing that they were Gothenburg godfathers and took that as an excuse to barely do anything onstage.

I can't disagree that they have a bit of an attitude on stage, but IMO they still seem to enjoy themselves and the crowd and they sound pretty tight. The energy and the sounds just do it for me. One problem I have is how much newer stuff they are playing.
|
| |
the album title is hilarious. I literally lol'd.
|
| |
This site has too many trolls. I can already see people voting this down before they even heard the whole thing and really gave a shit about it. And, a guy who listens to 25% metalcore doesn't have any right to lol at this band.
|
| |
Oh and yeah, anyone who says that In Flames are arrogant onstage have never actually been on their concert. I've been to their gig here in Zagreb 3 years ago, exactly on Anders' birthday, the whole event was too damn good. He even growled through all of Behind Space like he used to years ago, and Daniel looked like he'll start crying at the end of the gig because they had to finish. They bowed before the crowd and were waving and handing out picks for more than 5 minutes after the gig. I've never seen such good communication between a band and the crowd before. We even sang him happy b-day and he was like: "If I had a bigger tour bus, I'd take you all along with us.". And there is even footage of that on youtube, so please, if you just want to troll for the sake of trolling, go find another topic. Or just... you know... don't troll at all? Has anyone considered that?
|
| |
I ain't even gonna front; you trollin' StormChaser?
|
| |

Also? Some of us have been listening to In Flames since they formed, have been metal fans since before many of the commenters here were born, and STILL have the audacity to actually like In Flames.
I never fail to be amused at how judgemental some people on Sputnik can be regarding the musical tastes of others...
