Unearth name studio drummer

2011-01-20 by Damrod EMERITUS | 38 Comments
After parting ways with drummer Derek Kerswill over creative differences in October 2010, Unearth have now announced the new man behind the drums - at least for the tracking of the new album:

We wanted to let everyone know that tracking for the new album has officially begun! We're currently at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA tracking drums with our sit in drummer for the album Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed. Foley was an obvious choice for this album for many reasons, but mainly because of his abilities and knowledge of heavy music as well as his long time friendship with the band. A decade plus of friendship has made this an easy transition for the band, Foley and our producer/engineer Adam D.

Plans for a late June release of the new record still remain, with a world tour planned in support. If Justin Foley will help out live as well is not yet known.

This should be an interesting mix. I really didn't care for the last guy.

Their older drummer was a monster behind the kit.

Yeah the guy was really really good, still impressed with that fill in Black Hearts Now Reign.

Holy fuck I was thinking the same thing. I love how they break before that part and then he just comes slamming down on his kit.

Saw them live a few years ago and it was just as crazy in person as it was on the album.

yeah the drummer on The Oncoming Storm and In the Eyes of Fire was arguably the best part of the band. I thought a big reason why the last album wasn't as good was the lack of an interesting drummer.

I'm still a sucker for these guys when they're on their game, and Foley's a pretty cool drummer at times. This could be fun.

Tbh all that band members are beasts (needs to see the epic Giles video again). The KSE dude should be a worthy replacement. They will deliver no question about it.

The guy from KSE is so average though, but maybe it's the band holding him back a little.

Foley is really good; he is certainly capable. Not to mention the stuff he did in BHBS.

This is really good news because I am a pretty big fan of KsE and Justin Foley. Will look forward to hearing to what he has contributed on the new album which I hopefully gets a release date soon.

I don't get why the lead singer is wearing a sweat band on his arm...

Keeps the sweat off when he is raging. He only sweats from his right elbow. Doctors are stumped.

I'm pretty sure it is. I expect good things. Although it could end up being similar to the last one...slower and straight forward. I hope he brings the goods.

yeah, KSE holds him back quite a bit. listen to Spirals by Blood Has Been Shed to get an idea of what Foley can really do.
