I never really considered Sting's stuff to be rock music in the first place. More along the lines of instrumentally good pop music.

Sting is so bored by contemporary rock music that he's taken to singing sixteenth century English folk ballads. "Rock music has come to a standstill, it's not going forward anymore, it only bores me,"
He gets bored by rock because it hasn't gone forward in teh past couple months, so he listens to a genre that's been extinct for 5 centuries.
Hmmmmm.
