Vocals seem like they are gonna be good. The vocals on the first album were awful as fuck.

Understanding In a Crash - Listen to Rareform Re-Release, it has a much smoother sound and their new vocalist.

Gave their last album a 3 cause of lots of cool ideas but generally bad songwriting/flow. This one has potential but could be a huge failure imo.

Musically, I liked Forging a Future Self better, but that vocalist just fucked everything up. I actually like the new guy.

God, they sound like some bastardized version of Periphery and Meshuggah. And not even in the "they're-influenced-by" sense, they just sound like they're straight ripping rhythms from Meshuggah and making them simpler.

Who would ever want to rip-off Periphery?

"God, they sound like some bastardized version of Periphery and Meshuggah. And not even in the "they're-influenced-by" sense, they just sound like they're straight ripping rhythms from Meshuggah and making them simpler."

This sounds NOTHING like Periphery and I hear influence of Meshuggah, but there is a very obvious difference between the two. IMO This isn't a "Meshuggah rip off", I see it as another amazing After the Burial album.

Just listen to Encased In Ice. It sounds VERY Original and Progressive. This album (let's hope) will be a new sound to the metal community and set the bar for the "Djent" genre. I do not hear anything "generic" from this at all. Listen to the Amazon MP3 previews. This will be an amazing album.

I really wish people would stop saying "Djent" is a genre of music.
It is about as stupid as a deathcore band calling their music "chug"

What a hilarious article. They don't even know what Ion Dissonance's genre is or what djent is. Just because a band uses djent tone and says they're a djent band doesn't make them not stupid. You probably don't even know that the origin and actual meaning of djent isn't a genre.

Djent was coined by Misha Mansoor on some of the forums he visited.Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah invented it but, never named it. Misha popularized the term and Fredrik created it. And it is a genre... sure it is a onomatopoeia, that doesn't mean it's not a genre. That's like saying "rock" and "metal" aren't genres because they are lifeless objects not music.
