Panic! to cover Queen 2006-10-04 by canadianterrorist666 | 36 Comments |
Panic! At The Disco plan to cover Queen on their forthcoming US tour.
The band are planning a version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" for their next set of US dates, to join versions of Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight Tonight" and Radiohead's "Karma Police" that they already play, reports NME.com.
"'Bohemian Rhapsody' is one of the hardest [songs] to cover, and we've been working on it," guitarist Ryan Ross told MTV.
"The idea of it kind of blows my mind though, I mean, it would be all of us, plus our touring keyboard player, singing the harmonies. That seems like it would be a lot of fun."
The band are set to play a US arena tour, beginning on November 7 in Sunrise, Florida.
"We're going to build a house of mirrors, with ramps for us to come down," said Ross of thier new production. "In the front of the stage, underneath our keyboard and cello players, we're going to have animal cages, and we're going to put dancers painted to look like lions in there. I'm talking about full-body paint, with teeth and a tail."
The band are also keen to perform under a large tent last used by 80s rock veterans Motley Crue in 2005. The guitarist said: "We spoke to this guy about getting the tent, but then he told us that Mötley Crüe might use it again on some upcoming tour, so we'll have to see. We might have to go without a tent."

panic doing bo-rap? i LOVE it!!! not only because it will piss off my "new wave of emo"-hating queen fan mate, but also because it could actually work. these guys have the theatrics (musically) for it to really fit with what they do. as long as they teach that tone-deaf guitarist to get his backing vocals sounding less like a dying animal, should be interesting!

oh God i hope they dont screw up. Bohemian Rhapsody is a song you should only do if you know what you are doign.
|
| |
No one should attempt to cover Bohemian Rhapsody. Not even Queen (unless Freddie Mercury comes back from the dead)
|
| |
i agree.
|
| |
Who cares. Let them cover whatever.
|
| |
this will be very interesting. im sure girls at my school r going to have orgasms when they here this
|
| |
not that they already do, i just hope Panic! doesnt ruin a masterpiece
|
| |
didnt MCR already cover Queen? LULZ
|
| |
i've never heard of MCR covering Queen, and i dont want to ever think about MCR covering Queen
|
| |
Bit risky for Panic! to be taking on such a well-known and classic song. We'll see how it goes...
|
| |
i think they can pull it off, but if they dont then shame on them
|
| |
Fuck they're going to murder karma police with their techno pop dance gayness.
|
| |
Oh my god I missed the Smashing Pumpkins part at first. Now I am angered :angry:This Message Edited On 10.04.06

Hm.....
|
| |
They covered Karma Police?
That sucks.
|
| |
The singer has the worst voice ever, even when he's just talking he sounds really really effeminate. Ironically, Freddie Mercury actually WAS gay but still had a powerful singing voice.
|
| |
Bohemian Rhapsody seems like it would be one of the hardest songs to cover. That said, it could really go either way. It suck ass, or if they practiced their asses off it could be pretty rad.
|
| |
When Between the Buried and Me covered Queen it was solid. Panic!? not so much.
|
| |
Oh noes! Radiohead and the smashing pumpkins to be covered by new-wave emo. ARGH!
|
| |
Well, there goes another great song ruined by a terrible band. They do really sound like they're working hard though. Maybe they'll pull it off. As soon as hell freezes over.
|
| |
They could've done something less obvious.
|
| |
this will suck.
hard.
|
| |
This one of those songs that should never be covered, but they all eventually do.
examples of other songs like this are 'smells like teen spirit', Under The Bridge', 'That'll be the day'.
but I think they all have
|
| |
I don't know, from what I heard of them live on TV, they do suck tremendously on their own songs. "I write sins, not tragedies" comes off half decent as album version, but the vocals and all are terrible live. If they can not perform their own material right live, would it make sense to cover such a complex/sophisticated song that BR is (at least in parts)?
|
| |
You can't whine bohemian raphsody, only one man could ever sing it, and hes dead. Just goes to show you what happens when you do actually play that song.
|
| |
Maybe this will make my friends see that Panic! is no good, and that Queen and Radiohead eat noobs for breakfast.
|
| |
NO ONE CAN COVER QUEEN.
IT"S NOT ALLOWED!
|
| |
Noobs are an important part of anybodys breakfast.
|
| |
haha yeah mcr did cover Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure with The Used. hope these covers don't suck though.
|
| |
Jesus H Christ!. Leave the classics alone. They are too go to be killed by some new-age emo band
|
| |
i really liked panics cover of tonight tonight
they might be able to do it
with lots of practice
|
| |
They sure are whiny enough to try and cover it.
|
| |
Why would they want to ruin a perfect song into something that was eaten by MTV and ejected by the anus.
|
| |
The singer's voice is terrible live, so I'm betting on this not turning out to well.
|
| |
Yeah I heard Uries voice at the VMA's and it was TERRIBLE. couldn't believe me ears. This news articles is perfect for breaking the ice at a party or something. I'm gonna tell my friend who are panic fanatics this
