I do enjoy Opeth, quite a bit at times, but I honestly have no idea why bands like Opeth and Dream Theater etc. release live albums. There's little or no difference to the studio recordings. Going and seeing them live (although I wouldn't go to Dream Theater if I was paid) is another story, but buying a CD of the same arrangements with shittier sound quality and a bunch of screaming prog fanboys thinking they're metal? No thanks!

Most of their classics already on Lamentations + Roundhouse (like the awesome A Fair Judgement), so set II mostly offers tracks not already issued live. Good idea.

I'm so used to living in a world where for 80-90% their concept of metal at best has been Bon Jovi,
Motley Crue + Metallica. When I was a teenager, you'd be lucky to have 1 other headbanger in a class.
Most people in society are dismissive, loathing or have never heard of most heavy bands I'm into.

Maybe that's because this is a music site..? Where we actually care about music..?

At least you don't have to deal with kids who listen to Whitechapel and Bring Me the Horizon and act like they're badass metalheads while everyone else calls virtually everything rock/metal either emo or screamo.

No mobile phones, internet, chatrooms, digital products when I was younger. Sputnik has made me realise how much I'd lost touch with heavy music and been ignorant of cyberspace.

yeah one of the guitar's cut out during the Lotus Eater, during the bit where it's just that guitar playing... they had to pause while a roadie came out and fixed it...
will be interesting to see if they do anything about it

There's probably plenty of unedited banter, at least I'd hope so. Mikael is pretty damn funny live.
