Jay-Z Teams Up With Coldplay

2006-09-16 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 20 Comments
If I asked you to list a dream team of producers for Jay-Z's comeback record, it would come pretty easily, right?

Kanye? Check. Timbaland? Check. Dre? Check? Chris Martin? Check. The Neptunes? Check.
Wait, hold up a second. Chris Martin? Isn't he white?

Yeah, apparently Chris is a big fan of American hip-hop and, when approached by Jay's people, jumped at the chance to work with the not-so-retired legend.

Speaking about the collaboration, Jaz-Z said: "We met a charity dinner and just really kept in touch. He sent me these beautiful chords for this song called Beach Chair. I had Dre put some drums on it. It's really, really incredible."

When asked about his decision to come out of retirement, Mr. Beyoncé had only this to say: "It was the worst retirement in history." It sure was.

Kingdom Come is slated for release on November 14 of this year, exactly ten years since his debut record Reasonable Doubt hit stores.

 Oh shi. I'm buying this.

I knew for quite a while Christ Martin and Jay-Z would hook up. Chris has been saying forever that he wants to. Although when he said it he wanted it to be a completely different style of music too so...:-

I don't like Coldplay or Jay-Z, so I doubt I'll be checking this out. It's still pretty interesting, though.

Jay-Z is too cool for this crap. If Nas still hated him, he could use this as inspiration for more disses because it's really really lame.

Two mediocre musicans can hopefully turn something good out...but not likely. I'm still curious though.

Jay-Z is one of the 5 best rappers ever (Probably best 3 if Eminem keeps sucking). Coldplay has some nice songs, This'll either be a 3.5 or a 2.
