Usually, rap albums that begin with XXXX Presents: are
a fucking joke, but this song is pretty hot so ill give the guy
the benefit of the doubt.
On an unrelated note, the song was written by some kid that
i went to college with... i didn't know him but my roomate did.

also unrelated. Year of the Black Rainbow. Wowzers.

Spunky Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams
DAMN THAT SHAWTY BE SPUNKY!
|
| |
Not trying to bring up an Autotune bash session or anything, but did anyone else think using pitch correction made her voice less, I don't know, Haley? I mean I enjoyed the song, but that just bugged me.
|
| |
Nice song. Used her voice very well.
|
| |
@zarik its looped so much they probably over edited a bit.
can't help thinking how much better a bass guitar would sound in the chorus background instead of a drum machine...
|
| |
Song would honestly be better without her.
your wish is my command:

That was sweet. lol @ Paramore under "similar artists".
Also, it's probably just me, but he looks a bit like Dave Chappelle in that picture.

Yeah, B.o.B.s version is a lot better than that original.
|

Heck yes.
And btw, ties, Faint7 up there stole your shtick.
|
| |
I really think she's whoring herself out too much to other bands. She should just stick with her own band.
|
| |
Ooooooooooh, bloc just called Hayley a whore.

BLOC...
HOLD ME BACK, EMIM...
|

To be fair, Faint7 has had a Williams avatar for as long as he's been around. I think.

What a cute little chihuahua you have there, Em!
At least it would be a fair fight!

Paramore are pop punk genius.

And if I left, where would the token gay on the site be?
Nowhere, I tellz ya
Go masturbate to Kent Hovind, silly boy
|
| |
good track, B.o.B. actually might turn out to be a respectable rap artist if this song and nothin' on you are any indication of his talent level
|
| |
I've listened to this song 25 times in the last 24 hours. I don't know what it is, but I can't get enough of it.
|
| |
And if I left, where would the token gay on the site be?
Nowhere, I tellz ya
I'm not sure the token gay is a good thing. Existing for the sake of existing and all that.

I like it. I really like when Hayley's classical training is this apparent, cause she has a fucking good voice. She's going to make him huge.
|
| |
br00tal pop punk concerts. No Paramore allowed!
Paramore is pop punk, because pop + punk = pop punk.
|
| |
You have spirit, young one.
Paramore incorporates punk into their sound both instrumentally and musically. Especially guitar and drum-wise.
Also saying "not even slightly. no elements. they are poppy and that's it." and then "they are a pop/rock band" does not compute. Are they pop or pop/rock?
|
| |
lol @ this conversation.
|
| |
true pop punk circuit that have a mainly hardcore (genre) fan base
what?
|
| |
except nfg and paramore are touring together, hayley sang on nfg's latest record, the whole band appeared in the nfg "Kiss Me" music video... people who go to see either band mix...
you don't draw genre lines based on fans. good charlotte's first album is straight up pop punk. blink 182 same thing-but for their whole discography, despite no 'hardcore kids' ever repping blink.
also, the idea that there is some 'musical or punk-cred' barrier entry to the 'pop punk' genre, the genre that everyone feels obligated to label their guilty pleasure, is just plain stupid. Fast pop music that mixes singing and screaming and a live band instead of a drum machine is pop-punk. its that simple. some bands (like nfg) are much better than their genre-mates, but in the end, who really cares...
|
| |
Paramore is pop punk.
Thank you and good night.
|
| |
Blink 182 are no more credible or legit than Paramore. Both are quite commercial, poppy bands. Legit pop punk? lmao
|
| |
I mean what a dumb argument. Paramore are as pop punk as you can get. Generally fast song structures, octave-heavy guitar riffs, lyrics about angst. And they dress like all the other pop punk bands, as a sidenote.
|
| |
Blink 182 and Paramore are equal in measures of legitimacy, both use poppy melodies and riffs. Blink are probably a little better but there are way better pop punk bands than Blink, too.
|
| |
Blink aren't that respected, tbh. People always use them as an example of "shit" pop punk or why they hate pop punk music. And despite what lots of their fanboys/fangirls will say, they never had a classic album. Just a bunch of pretty good ones.
Personally I can't see Paramore doing anything spectacular either, but Hayley Williams might. But if she goes down the road this particular song suggest she will... Then nah, unlikely. Too commercial and produced. I'm not bitching at that song or the concept of commercial music, really, i'm just saying that it's not particularly memorable or likely to go down in history.
She is a great singer though.
|
| |
jimmy's right cept for this:
Blink 182 and Paramore are equal in measures of legitimacy
blink's musicianship is not what people respect, but then, people make the same arguments about AC/DC, The Ramones, the Beatles, Greenday, and Kiss. The band is respected for their place in music history and for pioneering rock, inspiring so many of the bands that sell today (both good and bad). Yeah, so what if none of these bands had one singular great musician, they're all still respected bands.
|
| |
The Beatles, Ramones and I guess AC/DC had great songwriters in them, that's what made them awesome Greenday were good in their early days for a catchy pop punk song. KISS were just image and some stupid rock.
I feel like songwriting is a much more rare and hard to achieve ability than instrumental ability.
The dudes in Blink were good for catchy pop punk, but they don't rank with The Ramones, or Minor Threat, or whatever punk band you wanna name.
|
| |
i wouldnt presume to rank them alongside anyone, all i'm saying is that they're respected for their impact on music. poll everybody who did warped tour last 5 years, except for like protest the hero, everybody would admit to having fond memories of blink.
|
| |
Are we really debating whether Paramore is pop-punk? I thought that was a given.
|
| |
^One would think so.
|
| |
Can't we just agree that Hayley is hot and leave out all the pop-punk politics?
|
| |
No, we must dissect every facet of her life for we are her true fans...
|
| |
^Album Rating: 2.5
How the frick do you rate news? I still don't know how.
|
| |
Pretty sure the mods got rid of the glitch but didn't delete the existing ratings.
|
| |
You have to rate that taboo Silverchair album.
