I'm pretty sure you know what he means. Wasn't "Dani California" almost best video of the year. I think it should have won over P!ATD. I'm not sure if RHCP were up for best video. its just what I heard from people.

all of the bands that they say are "rock" are completely mainstream or pop except avenged sevenfold. there are so many better bands than the ones that won.

Well obviously MTV isn't going to pick the best bands, just the ones with the most well-known or expertly-choreographed videos.
Although that Gnarls Barkley Rorschach ink blot video for "Crazy" really WAS neat. I think it should have won more!
