Pink Floyd Sue Their Label

2010-03-10 by PuddlesPuddles | 33 Comments
David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Nick Mason - the surviving members of Pink Floyd - have sued their label, EMI, due to a conflict over royalties for their downloaded music.

The clause being inspected states: "There are no rights to sell any or all of the records as single records other than with [Pink Floyd's] permission."

Representative QC for EMI, Elizabeth Jones, argues that this clause only implies physical records and not digitally downloaded singles.

Representative QC for the band, Robert Howe, says, "It is well known that Pink Floyd albums form seamless pieces. They want to retain artistic control, ensuring exploitation of albums, not singles."

A judgement will be made on Thursday, March 11.

Why are people bitching about Pink Floyd? They have every right to be pissed off about their label cheating them out.

"They want to retain artistic control, ensuring exploitation of albums, not singles." no it isnt about the money

"The Sunday Times Rich List 2009 ranks Waters at No. 657 with an estimated wealth of £85m, Gilmour at No. 742 with £78m, and Mason at No. 1077 with £50m." i think they're pretty good on the money side
