Alongside new single The Longest Year, taken from the recent Night is the New Day album, this new EP also features the previously unreleased track Sold Heart, Day & Then the Shade remix and an alternative version of Idle Blood plus the videos for both The Longest Year directed by Charlie Granberg (Katatonia, My Dying Bride) and Day & Then The Shade directed by Lasse Hoile (Porcupine Tree, Opeth). Night is the New Day was damn good.
I'm not feeling too confident in this though...

I love how Katatonia is the only band in the world who has more than 3 EPs in their discography, and how they put out like 6 every album.

Couldn't care less for the mixed tracks. Excited for the new song though.

@ all the people saying its a cash grab

the thing is....more of katatonia's B sides are among their best tracks so it makes it totally worth picking up

Edit: and fuck man when they coming around Georgia?

I usually find their b-sides to be quite average tbh

and even if the new song is really good I don't see what the alt mixes are gonna bring to the table

Unfurl was really, really, really good, and that was a b-side, so who knows...

money grab? maybe but i don't think so, they released a few eps for TGCD as well and all of them were pretty good. hopefully this won't disappoint.

@bodies

Blasphemy, dissolving bonds, wait outside, unfurl, displaced, oh cmon dude those are average?

Not bad songs, but no better than most of the songs on their respective albums.

Admittedly I never really think of Dissolving Bonds and Displaced as b-sides because they're on my copy of GCD and those are two very good songs.

Okay

Am listening to Unfurl again now and have to confess I'd forgotten quite how good it was...but my point still stands!

If it's as good as Unfurl or Sulfur, I might buy this thing. Cheers.

This will probably be good, Night Is The New Day was pretty much flawless, so if this follows that path I'm sure it wont disappoint.
