Labonte filling in for KSE

2010-02-10 by TheSorrow805 | 43 Comments
Current All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte made his live debut as the fill-in frontman for Killswitch Engage last night at the House Of Blues in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Current KSE vocalist Howard Jones is leaving the band's current headlining tour with The Devil Wears Prada and Dark Tranquillity due to "unforeseen circumstances."

Labonte will be stepping in for Jones for a few shows in the interim, until the band can determine what the plan will be for the remaining tour dates, which are currently scheduled to run through the end of March.

Writing on his Twitter profile, Labonte said, "Yep, I'm singing for them until he gets better. Not sure how long it'll be, but I'm here 'till they don't need me anymore."

Mods! Ban this man!!!

This sucks. I was going to go to the Nashville show but I may reconsider now due to my hatred of All That Remains...

As great of a vocalist as Phil can be (especially in the studio), he generally sucks live. He's a nice guy and all, but just can't do anything other than the mid-range scream during a live performance.

I thought about buying tickets to this show, and then I remembered who was playing and was like, oh, right, that show would kind of suck.

I'm no Devil Wears Prada fan but KsE and Dark Tranquility would be the best.

So glad I didn't get a ticket to this show now. Also there's like three feet of snow out and city driving in that weather isn't rather appealing to me.

I didn't know Howard Jones left. Labonte is a great vocalist, I'm sure he'll do a fine job filling in.

Already got my tickets for the Dallas show, and looking forward to this even more now.

Howard may have better live vocals, but his ability to write a nice memorable hook cant compare to stuff by Jesse and Phil. Still a fan of all artists concerned tho.

Not after the atrocity that they're about to drop on us. I've been hearing VERY bad things about their new album.

It's a 3.... it's not awful, people who say that are dumb, but it's not amazing. Keyboards are annoying and the guitar riffs are decent at best but Stanne's vocals still rule and "Iridium" is a fantastic song.

That doesn't sound like a 3 to me hahahaha. All I know is that I won't be wasting my time with it after those two songs they've released failed to get my attention.

Jesse owns all, but I put Howard higher than Phil simply because I feel he has more range with his vocals. Phil does suck live, whereas Howard (when he chooses to sing) is pretty spot on live

you can't even hear phil's voice in the video because of the fans, I was curious to see what he sounded like with the band

hah did the mod just ban a guy for talking back to him? Can't figure out who's the bigger internet tough guy...

In any case, I was going to go to this in Baltimore on Friday, but since we're getting brutally raped by winter storms the show will probably not happen. The mayor just closed all roads in the city to citizens. Pretty nuts.

Jesse's new outfit The Empire Shall Fall is pretty killer.

Fuck Howard and Phil. KSE hasn't been good since heartache dropped.

All That Remains has never been good. It's just shred over bad nu-metal-core. No wonder they are taking the A7x route.

No, he probably banned him for stealing another author's work, and posting as his own without citation, and then telling the mod to "cry a fucking river" about it instead of admitting plagiarism.

Never really cared for Phil's vocals honestly. Saw ATR live once and it wasn't impressive at all.

Okay... um, Killswitch's first album was good, I used to like AOJB and The End Of Heartache, but then it dawned on me how lame that shit was. Some cool riffs and good screaming though, good drumming too. The whole Duran Duran chorus thing ruined this band though.

I'm not a diehard fan, I might've been in high school though, and then I just forgot about them.

The point is, they're extremely boring and Phil Lebonte sucks.

You're an idiot.

So many other bands sing off key and much more severely than Geoff USED TO (note: he's taken voice lessons and actually knows what he's doing now).

I don't get where you're going with criticism for Underoath or Thursday, other than OMG EMO SINGING, but seriously, both bands guitarists are A LOT more inventive than say any band mentioned in this news piece, their drummers are more skilled/play with more groove, and OMG their bassists are audible!!!!

Lyrical content for Underoath is kinda meh, but a lot more honest than any of the aforementioned bands, but lyrics don't get much better than Thursday.~
