Tony Danza does Kurt Cobain

2010-01-15 by grahamg0re | 49 Comments
Out of sheer boredom, The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza has recorded a cover of Nirvana's hit song "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The cover will not be featured on their upcoming album, Danza III: A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The song can be streamed and downloaded here: http://www.metalsucks.net/2010/01/15/exclusive-download-the-kurt-cobain-tapdance-extravaganza/

Why did they choose the most obnoxious/overplayed Nirvana song?

Why did they choose the most obnoxious/overplayed joke as a band name?

I was thinking they picked Tony Danza for a Kurt Cobain movie or some crap.

I was thinking of suicide. Phew, I was wrong. I don't really even know who Tony Danza is but suicide's not good.

You just described every song the band ever wrote.

So you like The Sex Pistols and you're calling NIRVANA obnoxious?? Strange.

How's about you learn to respect other people's opinions on music and stop acting like a little bitch whereismymind. Seriously, you bring up old history more than any girl I know

I respect both of your opinions, i just think its weird that someone can call nirvana obnoxious while a band like the sex pistols is somehow not.

Because the Sex Pistols never went about telling other bands they weren't alternative enough.

what does that have to do with the music?

ThePalaceOfWisdom
January 16th 2010

Ummm because Cobain thought his music was more alternative than anyone elses, because it had fewer guitar leads and focused more on the music and less on the lyrics mannnnnnn. Or possibly the fact that Nirvana actually wrote songs criticizing the very audience they explicitly marketed themselves toward. More to the point how were the Sex Pistols obnoxious at all?

First, why in the hell did this happen? Second, while a good song, Nirvana does have better and I'll admit that it is overplayed - especially on shitty rock/alt. radio stations who think that their abhorrent music taste is edgy and cool. Thrid, any cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I've ever heard has been god awful and makes you want to seriously consider following in Cobain's footsteps with that shotgun. Nirvana is not a mainstream band, but with shit like this happening, they keep getting grouped with the terrible alt. bands on the 90's (not the real alt. bands like Radiohead).

I wonder if Tony Danza knows about this band. I can't see the band affording a lawyer to keep the name and we all know Tony wouldn't want anything to tarnish his flawless reputation
