Can't really tell from just one song, Rocket Skates, what direction the rest of the album is.
All I know is that Stephen was supposed to have more room to do what he wants guitar-wise.

It's going to be the same album as Adrenaline, Around the Fur, or the Self-titled; or it's going to be the same album as White Pony or Saturday Night Wrist. Either way, it's just a rehash of everything they've already done, like every other nu metal band still struggling to make it through this decade.

Just because a band uses ambient noise in their music doesn't make it good nor orignal. Bands have been doing that since the 1960's.

Fur's debatable, Roller Skates has that kind of vibe to it. The Only direction you could say they probably won't go in would be Adrenaline.

i watched that video of Skates and i couldn't hear a damn thing, but whatever i got out of it was actually Fur sounding, now that you mention it. and definitely agree with you about the Adrenaline bit.

I think this album isn't gonna contain all those "spacey vibes" that we've become used too from the Tones. I think this is gonna more of a straight up heavy effort, I could be wrong though.

I haven't to these guys in a while, just put on Knife Party and am getting those deliciously creepy chills that only Deftones can deliver.

I've been anticipating this album for 2 years now, and really hope its amazing.

The album will for sure have a "heavy spacey" like feel to it. Someone interviewed Chino during one of the festivals this summer and he described the new album as those two words.
