Will probably be better than Son of the Morning; guy is terribly talented both instrumentally and vocally.
The Almost 2.0?!
| |
The guy with the talent is bailing from the sinking ship.
| |
sounds interesting, I'll check it out. At least he isn't bailing on the band to do his own thing.
| |
should be boring
| |
What happens when a bad metalcore guitarist goes solo?
Lulz, that's what.
| |
Um, bad metalcore?
No
| |
Nothing bad about him at all, the guy's carrying that band
| |
I wouldn't put him in the top 10 Metalcore guitarists, but I definitely wouldn't say that he's bad.
| |
He played with BTBAM during The Silent Circus touring, haha it's not even debatable whether he's a good guitarist or not; he's fantastic. Oh, Sleeper though? Eh...
| |
I prefer his work in Oh, Sleeper rather than BTBAM, but just my opinion. Glad he's sticking with it, however I would like so hear some solo stuff.
| |

He never recorded anything with them. But who knows, maybe he wrote a part or two that made it's way into Alaska?

im prty sure Alaska is the sole product of Rogers and Waggoner. that jus my opinion.
this should/could be interesting.
| |
this guy, during ETiD's set, stage dove right on top of me when i wasn't looking, skull to skull contact, knocked me down...
cool dude but Oh, Sleeper's set was pretty weak...
| |
Will probably be better than Son of the Morning; guy is terribly talented both instrumentally and vocally.
I would never have thought this considering Son of the Morning was an atrocity to mankind.
| |

The man can play... how far that will get him on his own is questionable though.
| |
I will take your advice with a huge grain of pepper that will be smashed into itty bitty pieces and dissected carefully.
That means I'm being serious if you can't understand my retarded jibberish.
| |
btbam>blay>oh sleeper
| |
well he's stoked so it'll probably be pretty rad
| |
Ugliest haircut in existence.
| |
Well this guy is actually a huge John Mayer fan like he basically worships at his feet. So i wouldn't doubt if he took that approach.
| |
Ugliest haircut in existence.
lol
| |
IMPENDING DOOM IS STOKED
| |
but he can do teh sweepz!!!
| |
da bestest guitraingist ever
i mean he payed with btbam so he must be, right?
| |
Their debut was entertaining, and Son of the Morning was just boring as fuck.
But he's talented, and was good in BTBAM.
tha most amazingest singiner evar cuz he skramz
| |
could be cool. i like oh, sleeper
| |
pretty pumped for this
| |
Good player and he's got a pretty strong voice. Maybe it will be less gay than The Almost (Sorry Mr. Gillespie).
| |
Last night he posted on his twitter saying it had a Sade sort of feel to it. That doesn't give me much hope. I was hoping he'd take a different approach. Oh well. Maybe it'll be better than my expectations.
| |
Sounds... promising?
| |
Their drummer Matt Davis is absolutely amazing too.
He took all of them down, but there used to be videos of him just jamming out some jazz in weird meters or whatever and he was insane.
| |
there used to be an awesome matt davis drum solo video on youtube but now it's set to private
:[
| |
hmmm don't understand all the hate for Son of the Morning. it's not fantastic, but it's really not horrible either. and they guy has skills, so this is promising.
Oh, Sleeper though? Eh...
hey now wait a sec Caleb...i remember you saying you liked their first album better than Underoath's latest 2 albums. changed your opinion?
| |
I never thought that; I just said that Sleeper is more a technically skilled than Underoath. If they had even a fraction of the amount of songwriting potential Underoath has, they would be halfway decent.
| |
I would definitely say that UO has the better drummer and vocals (at least harsh), but Oh, Sleeper owns them for guitar.
| |
i wouldn't say Sleeper is better than Underoath on guitars even. i agree that Underoath kills them in vocals and drums, but even though Underoath doesn't "shred" or play fast, they use effects and noise a lot to make their playing shine much more than Sleeper.
| |
sorry to say this, but I prefer Oh, sleeper to Underoath. There I said it
| |
hell, you got that off your chest, i might as well go ahead: i like Oh Sleeper's second album more than the first.
| |
really? that surprises me, I find their debut the more progressive and interesting album. What makes you like that one better?
| |
i actually have no idea
| |
Ugh he posted on twitter last night saying the track he was working on sounded like "pure pop" and he loved it. Im hoping the pop is at least a John Mayer-esque pop, and not Adam Lambert styled.
| |
I'm sure he's just exaggerating...
| |
I hope so. But the guy is a die-hard JM fan, so that's the most likely direction.
| |
I seriously doubt a real shredder who has worked with the likes of BTBAM is going to consider a pop hit his solo Masterpiece
| |
That honestly wouldn't be bad - we haven't heard him try anything like that, so I can't really make a statement on whether or not it will work.
| |
yeah man i mean HE WORKED WITH BTBAM
| |
is it old btbam? cause in terms of skill, that's nothing to be proud about.
| |
Yup, Silent Circus era. But only live, he never recorded with them. And honestly this guy has a really smooth voice so i can picture him doing a JM sorta thing if he had to. Maybe with an electronic feel too, he likes programming. Idk. guess we'll just wait and see.
| |
It'll be interesting no matter what the genre, I'll be looking forward to it no matter what.
| |
oh ok gotcha Caleb. in fact, now that i think about it i think it was more about their vocalists...you definitely did say you liked Micah better than Spencer (at least after Oh, Sleeper's first album). nothing to be ashamed of though, they're both quite good.
| |
Oh Sleeper has too much screech, Underoath brings the beef.
| |
word. for a little guy, spencer truly brings the beef
| |
not even good enough to go solo.
| |
yes! end it once and for all!
| |
Didn't she die?
| |
He posted again on Twitter saying the songs sound very Nu-metally and that Oh Sleeper fans will probably hate it. Figures.
| |
oh dear
| |
Blay gives studio updates to his Twitter so often, I don't know what do with news articles...
| |
post a direct link to his twitter account? haha
| |
you guys all need to go shut up and go die if u dont like oh,sleeper then dont fucking listen to it stupid fucks and shane blay is probally better than all u bastards who've posted some thing on this wall and you cant compare underoath to oh,sleeper underoath is post hard core to hard core and oh sleeper is metal core 2 completely different genres and both bands lead singers are beast so if u have a problem go suck a big dick!!!!!!!!!!!! no matter what his solo stuff sounds like i am going to listen to it!!!!!! bitches
| |
both bands are metalcore
| |
Still waiting on some o' dat solo material.
| |
ok yeah waior there both metalcore but oh sleeper is def more harder then underoath!!!!!!!
| |
the two sings are pree meh.
| |
Guitarist Shane Blay (Oh, Sleeper, Between the Buried and Me) has, according to his Twitter, started recording a solo EP.
Wait, what?
| |
waid so does it sound liek thrice liek oh sleeper sounds liek thrice?
| |
He won't survive
| |
