Korn Selling Out? 2006-07-19 by Activista anti-MTV | 19 Comments | At 12:58 AM CT on July 19, 2006 Korn appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Concert Series. Nothing special there, except they performed a Acoustic number "Coming Undone" off of their new album set to debut in October. The new album (it has yet to be titled) is said to have 20 tracks of "funky, heavy, dark, and sometimes industrial tinged [music]" says Davis.
This is after the band lost one of it's founders (Brian " Head" Welch) to the nemesis of all Misunderstood Headbangers, Christianity.
Excerpt:"Head had been having problems for years, and he wasn't really there. ... For a lot of the records, he was there, but he wasn't there," Davis said. "When we were writing, he did his thing. But we're not going to replace him. With Head leaving, it would be weird having another guitar player in Korn. I'd never say it will never happen, but right now, we're going to be a four-piece. I don't know if we'll have somebody onstage or we'll have someone playing guitar maybe offstage. We'll figure that out. We haven't even gotten to that point. Having someone new onstage would be weird. We've been a band for 12 years, and to have that guy missing, it would be weird to just jump in and have someone else there. Things may change."

Korn sold out along time ago, and does it really matter? They need to change up their sound IMO anyway.
| | | Sold out? Nah. Made shit albums? Definitely.
| | | Wow, isnt this a news item that is... old? I could swear that I read the thing about "off stage guiatr player" ages ago
| | | it is old
| | | only yhe whole acoustic thing is new...as far as i know that is the first time they have ever even touched an acoustic
i wish i would have seen it,i was at the movies last night with my wife. someone upload it to youtube.
i myself have never disliked an entire korn album except maybe life is peachy and take a loo in the mirror....but only with just a few songs...
i really liked see you on the other side. i don't see how they are selling out? to be honest i am utterly sick of that term.
| | | ^ I've never disliked a whole Korn album either. I guess their kind of %50 hit and %50 miss.

selling out gets the trophy for #1 over-used cliche word of the year.
| | | I ahte how peopel give them crap for changing their sound. I think the new music is just fine, same as the old music. I'm glad tehy didn't keep the smae sound throughout their career cause I belive that's what makes a band suck.
| | | I hate the term "selling out".
...Creamed Corn>Korn
| | | it's a matter of nit just opinion but likeness of music. people do over-use "sell-outs" too much, and especially when a band known for a certain type of music goes in a completely different direction. most recent example i could think of is AFI with decemberunderground which all old school fans of AFI know them for punk and du has 0% punk in that album.
i don't mind change in any band. as long as it sounds great any band could change their sound/style
| | | IMO See You On The Other Side is a very underrated album.
| | | Selling Out was the term in 1992 when Metallica did Nothing else matters. Yea, maybe I should get with it.

The News was their first Acoustic performance, and their new album without Head.

| | | They've already done an album without Head....... 'See You On The Other Side'....The song 'coming undone' is from THAT album... I've heard it....Its surprising....I'll say that. But 'selling out?' hardly any bands ACTUALLY 'sell out'...People just use this term for a change in music....A band changes, and suddenly they are 'sellouts'.... a sad world this is...hehehe
| | | Korn's last great album was Issues, since then their music has sucked even more with every album they released.

Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have done this. I knew I was going to get called out on the fact I know nothing about Korn. Anyway, Monkey Dancer you got me.
