One of the songs from Scar Symmetry's upcoming album "Dark Matter Dimensions" has found its way on to youtube.

'The Consciousness Eaters' is the first song to feature new vocalists Roberth Karlsson and Lars Palmqvist, following the departure of original vocalist Christian Älvestam.

Apparently this song was uploaded about four days ago, but I haven't seen anything about this, so I thought I'd post about it.

Song sounds pretty good, although not as good as their previous stuff I've listened to..

Sounds exactly the same (except low in the mix) as every other Scar Symmetry song sans the first album.

I'm kinda digging it

The growls are almost identical to Christians, but I'm not feeling the cleans too much

No. To me, this band embodies everything that is wrong with the genre.

Soilwork is better and more enjoyable than Scar Symmetry.

soilwork bores the hell out of me, as does most melo-death bands these days.

with Dark Tranquillity and a couple hypocrisy albums as the exception.

At least Soilwork used to be good. That means there's always hope, especially now that their original guitar player is back.

Holographic Universe is better than anything Soliwork has put out tbh.

Lol no. That album was one giant mediocre song. And as for clean vocals Bjorn slays Christian. If he bothered to use his rorar he could compete with Christian but he tones it down.

scar symmetry has gotten progressively worse imo since their first album.

However, I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't looking forward to seeing how 2 vocalists would work out.

I think Scar Symmetry have their own style of Melodeath which makes them almost if not as good as bands like Soilwork, DT, etc.

Ghost Prototype II is solid as is Retaliator, but other than thhose two tracks, Symmetric In Design is the only album I enjoy from em.

Song is boring, band is boring for the most part and Soilwork is no better. If anything, they're worse.

Band is tolerable.
Barely.

Christian slays anything they will ever accomplish without him, and what they did with him was overproduced and trite anyway.

The song is decent, though definitely not as good as their previous material.

the song is bad, especially the rhythm(any1 listening to this for real? its the same time and drums for 60% of the song) and the new clean singer. omg so bad. growls are okay, but the clean dude is just bad.
scar symmetry aren't scar symmetry anymore without christian, i'm sry...
and i loved them from the start. even pitch.black.progress is my favourite album. symetric in design has to less hits, holographic universe is a bit over-the-top and overproduced. PBP is the best - nice production, and it has just hits...not one track to skip.
mb listen to this before you rate this new track...
christian was badass.

It's the least over-produced of the bunch.

i think the chorus shows potential but the rest of the cleans are pretty poor tbh, growls are solid but nothing spectacular, overall im a bit dissappointed but i wasnt expecting it to be as good as the Christian SS era.

Doesn't seem to have changed much, it's alright, but once you've been through The Illusionist you've pretty much heard all they can offer.

I'm a big Scar Symmetry fan, and I was probably the most optimistic with the departure of Christian. I have to say that this song is pretty shitty as a whole. Right from the beginning it was weak, the back and forth vocals between the two singers are shit... I really hope they don't do that on the whole album. Either way the growling vocalist has a lot better range (growling) than Christian, and pretty much hits almost identical lows as him. Another part I enjoyed about the song was the chorus, I thought it was very old Scar Symmetry-esque. The solo was pretty weak and there wasn't really anything memorable about the song in general.

I'm pretty let down. Christian was much better than these two new guys. His singing was absolutely phenomenal and his growling was top notch. I tried to be optimistic, even thinking that two singers (which is a little much) could make this band even better, but judging from what I just heard, this album is going to be pretty cheesy.

the growling is ace. robban has been a synonym of quality on the scene for years now.

...yeah. and that's about it :P
