Decent song, nothing special but still looking forward to a new album, Pale Emperor was such a return to form, last 2 were pretty good too.
I hope he's doing well health wise, remember reading he was in pretty bad shape
|
| |
Opening for Five Finger Death Punch... damn, cancel culture is real.
|
| |
not sure the military bros will be onboard with it either
|
| |
apparently he's been sober for 2 years now, so he should be doing better. even the voice on the song sounds focused, not the drunk vampire he's been since Eat Me Drink Me
|
| |
I've heard he's been sober and doing a lot better health-wise. Also he seems to look good in recent pics and not like the bloated corpse he was for a while there.
Song is excellent and he sounds fantastic here. Like, compare his voice here to say, The High End Of Low. It's like night and day. This isn't as good as Pale Emperor but it's better than Heaven and Chaos. Am very optimistic about the album. Song is a 7/10 but might be a grower, I really like the verses
|
| |
Not bad actually I'll look forward to the album.
|
| |
Song is great. Best his voice has sounded in a long time. Excited to see him in a couple nights
|
| |
let us know how it was, he's been so wildly hit/miss live for a long time
|
| |
The last three were great.
This is nice too.
|
| |
of the artists the world could do without a comeback from
|
| |
This absolutely slaps. Mechanical animals vibes for sure.
His vocals sound fantastic. Thought he sounded good on his last record, but he really sounds rejuvenated on here.
|
| |
Song doesn’t do much to me, will give the new album a try though.
|
| |
@JohnnyoftheWell There's no comeback to make when your last three albums are very good and it's only been four years since the last one.
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
I didn't get any Mechanical Animals (best album ever created btw) vibes, but he does sound rejuvenated yeah. Honestly, I was pretty sure this guy was going to be dead by like 2010 so I've been pleasantly surprised by his output.
Let's go. give me The New Shit
|
| |
How does this guy still have a career after what Evan Rachel Wood said he did?
|
| |
It wasn't proven in court
|
| |
@ArsMoriendi Because life is more complex than trends.
|
| |
The music video is really great, it’s insane how young he looks after losing the weight. Bro hasn’t looked like Marilyn Manson since like 2004, but now you could show me a screengrab from the new video and say it was from the Holy Wood era and id believe you.
Song grew on me a lot too, his vocals sound 10 years younger.
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
[3]
Just watched the video myself. Great stuff.
|
| |
“even the voice on the song sounds focused, not the drunk vampire he's been since Eat Me Drink Me“
Yeah, as much as i’ve enjoyed his recent output, the obnoxious crooning he was doing, using the same inflections and melodies got on my nerves bad. The verses give me Mechanical Animals / Holy Wood vibes. There’s actual thought put into the melodies and flow of the vocals it feels like.
|
| |
I will 100% let you guys know how it went. Very excited. Hopefully its just this song and antichrist tunes lol
|
| |
This guy has never been good
|
| |
Antichrist has kind of aged poorly for me but MA, Holywood and Pale Emp are fucking legend. God-tier albums
|
| |
Thats the best the video has looked and hes looked in many, many years. Sounded too.
|
| |
Still listen to the first 4 records (and slc) a lot
|
| |
Still listen to the first 4 records (and slc) a lot
|
| |
Lowkey love this track ngl. Very excited for the album!
|
| |
Ps— ill be heading out immediately after mansons set
|
| |
Completely agree row
|
| |
Love it, excited for more
|
| |
Honestly yeah I guess I kinda do get some Mechanical Animals vibes.
|
| |
Sounds sick. This is great.
|
| |
Damn didnt expect this to be so good, really digging this
|
| |
Oh fuck yeah! MM used to be one of my favorite artists when I was a kid
This is so goddamn good. I really didn't dig the last two, other than the initial first few weeks of recency bias when they first dropped but this is actually genuinely good.
And to whoever said The Pale Emperor was a "return to form"...eh, not really. It was a fantastic album, but the bluesy feel was very different than the industrial goth rock that MM was known for, so I wouldn't really call it that.
THIS feels more like a return to form.
|
| |
I know the cocoon imagery is just recycled from Antichrist Superstar, but holy shit that was pure nightmare fuel in the music video
|
| |
The chorus for this is so damn good, only criticism o have with the song is he doesn’t use it enough.
|
| |
Damn, he sounds twenty years younger and the song is fucking good. We Are Chaos was his best album since Holy Wood which was a pleasant surprise so late into his career. If the rest of the tracks on this new album are as good as this one then I'll be very happy with it. I was really hoping that this wasn't going to be another Say10 based on the preview and I'm glad that he resisted the urge to go in that direction again. This has a bit more of an edge compared to We Are Chaos but it still has a nice maturity to it. Manson can get real corny, real quick as evidenced by Heaven Upside Down. If he can stay in this lane for the majority of the album then we'll have a really nice double feature to compliment the Mechanical Animals/Holy Wood pairing that was his peak for me.
Honestly, I get some Eat Me, Drink Me vibes here as well which I'm fine with because that's a really underrated album in my opinion. There's a little bit of everything that I like from Manson here without any of the pitfalls that he has stumbled into in the past. Instrumentally, lyrically, and especially vocally. He really does sound better than he has in decades.
|
| |
Yeah, this song is a nice mixture of mechanical/holywood/eat me, with a peppering of his sound from the last three. Not sure if bates is involved here, but it certainly feels like his guitar work.
Musically, outside of the synth and guitar, there’s not much going on, but the real draw here is Manson himself. He emotes here like he’s never done before.
|
| |
Reba from code orange playing with him live. Shes getting paid but most definitely does not stand with women…
|
| |
Tyler bates is involved. So is gil sharone again. And piggy d rounding it out on bass.
|
| |
Im sure reba and piggy are just hired guns for the tour but that new song definitely sounds like something gil and tyler would write/be involved with
|
| |
“I know the cocoon imagery is just recycled from Antichrist Superstar, but holy shit that was pure nightmare fuel in the music video” lmao just made me think of Fire In The Sky
|
| |
Reba meyers from code orange agrees with you
|
| |
I would be a lot more sympathetic if Evan came forward with her allegations 15+ years earlier. At this point it's just he said/she said bullshit to me. The guy has always been on front-street about being a deranged lunatic, and she engaged in an intimate relationship with him anyway. It sucks but I'm not shedding tears over it.
|
| |
eh marilyn manson being a complete piece of shit junkie in the 2000s is nothing new and i don't see any point to defend it. the past few years before the allegations came out manson did finally seem to be pulling his life together/getting sober/healthy, i'd rather him continue on that path even if he's publicly disgraced. i waas considering seeing him in a week or so buut not paying for fuckin five finger death punch lol
|
| |
just saw a clip of him playing this new song live and it's crazy how much better his voice sounds now. I feel like every live video I've seen of him since like 2007 he's been a total train-wreck. Couldn't sing, couldn't scream, was out of breath constantly and looked like he was about to keel over.
|
| |
i saw him in 2015 and 2017, and he was excellent 2015. he started going off the rails in 2017 though.
|
| |
you saw him for the Pale Emperor tour? Damn, that's sick. Lucky you
|
| |
I saw him in 2015 as well and he was fantastic. But I watched clips of the shows directly before and after my show and he was completely trashed. I lucked out that he decided to give a shit for the one show I went to, lol. I think the crowd was particularly loud and responsive at my show and he decided then and there to actually try. It's nice to see him performing without crawling all over the floor and puking his guts out.
|
| |
Double checked, the song rips.
|
| |
Yeah I saw the show of him in Huntington where he rolled around on stage and went on a drugged out rant, after being like 45 minutes late - then he refused the venue to issue refunds
Bit of a cunt move
But I did see him in 2000 and he was fantastic 24 years ago so uh at least I have that memory lmao
|
| |
Solid song. Better than expected.
|
| |
He sounds better than he has in 20 years. Reba from Code Orange being in the band is the cherry on top.
|
| |
Yeah did not have Manson putting out legit music on my bingo card for this year.
|
| |
That set recently at The Fillmore is fucking surreal. He's clean and actually trying. Like, wow
|
| |
that's the one i couldn't make it out too
|
| |
Sounds like it could have come from the last Ministry album
|
| |
We know where you fucking live
Disposable teens
Angel w the scab wings
This is the new shiz
Say10
Deep six
Tourniquet
Mobscene
Dope show
As sick as secrets within
Sweet dreams
Love song
Beautiful people
Clarkston (detroit) setlist 8/7/24
|
| |
Yes, I remembered that off the top of my head…
|
| |
Manson sounded incredible live. The band did too… Im really digging his/their ‘metal’ type lineup with two guitars. Really helps chug parts. Beautiful people ALWAYS sounded thin to me live. Now its sounds nice and chunky. Deep 6ix also. Im still shocked i could hear him pronounce every word. And to tell you the truth ive NEVER seen manson so controlled. This sober version is a lot better ALL around but i will always miss his unhinged days. No, im not talking about manson 03-19. Im talking about 90s manson mainly when i say that but we will never get that back. Idc if daisy comes back from the dead and pogo sells all his remaining blockbuster stock…
|
| |
i was very disturbed at first to see manson being welcomed back in with open arms
but then kevin assured me that it was okay because life is more complex than trends so i can rest easy now
|
| |

Taking my chick to see him next month and couldn't be more hyped
|
| |
Have fun man, I'm jealous
|
| |
Is he good live now? Wondering because when I saw him back in 2009 he was awful
|
| |
yeah look up his most recent performances. He's the best he's sounded in over 20 years
|
| |
Good for him
|
| |
Solid.
|
| |
Wait people are still ok with this guy?
|
| |
This new track sure is great
|
| |
Row have fun at the show man. Youre in for a real treat
|
| |
This is about what I expected from this thread honestly
|
| |
Damn this is surprisingly solid
|
| |
New one tonight at midnight
|
| |
second single is heat
|
| |
second track is a banger, let the man cook
|
| |
Second single is a barn burner. Love the chorus, nice to hear him bring that kind of infectious melody into the more aggressive vocals. Of the two tracks, it feels very different from anything he’s done before, and in the best way. It’s energetic but also feels more mature and thought out, and the textures standout in his discography.
|
| |
New song slaps [135436]
|
| |
Oh shit there’s a CD version of this with a third song
|
| |
Saw this dude like 15 years ago because my ex liked him. Don't remember too much about it other than him being very obviously fucked up and a big christian protest across the street from the venue. Think I side with the christians on this one
|
| |
To be fair, he’s been a trainwreck for a long time. But he seems to have cleaned up his act, and he sounds great live now. I have a big soft spot for this dude since i grew up on him, but i avoided seeing him live cuz of how bad he got. I’d see him on this tour though, hes killing it
|
| |
Word on the street is he might actually BE Christian now, but who knows. Either way I'm glad he's doing better. New track owns!
|
| |
He'll have to explain some of his tattoos to the Big Man upstairs
|
| |
New songs are fire
|
| |
@Jurtz He can atone by playing Holy Wood in it's entirety
|
| |
"Oh shit there’s a CD version of this with a third song"
Where are you seeing this? Don't tease me like this
|
| |
In some ways as a recording artist MM is immune to the passage of time...basically he is one of the most obvious examples of a 'studio singer' going, his vox have always been heavily produced
|
| |
that's something I've always admired about him. He kind of proved that you don't have to be a particularly great singer to be effective as a frontman
|
| |
https://www.discogs.com/release/31494113-Marilyn-Manson-Raise-The-Red-Flag
|
| |
"that's something I've always admired about him. He kind of proved that you don't have to be a particularly great singer to be effective as a frontman"
Ozzy and DLR proved this decades ago lol
|
| |
I know he wasn't the only one, he was just very influential for me in particular. And damn, I want that third song so badly!! I hope someone posts it soon
|
| |
@art
The maxi cd is on nuclear blast’s website.
|
| |
Just found a news article claiming that Manson has "canceled the cancel culture".
|
| |
We are so back
|
| |
New video is really cool
|
| |
The new song is great. Looking promising for his new album. Apparently he's been sober for 6 years which would explain why We Are Chaos was his best work in a long time. But he seems fully recovered now and it is doing wonders for his voice and general demeanor.
|
| |
There's a new new single I believe.
|
| |
New song is solid but come on, the video was pretty low-effort compared to the initial one
|
| |
Completely agree w that art. Felt they were obligated to show off the new band. Get em onboarded so we can get on with the process
|
| |
Feel like its mansons most sanitized era. For more than one reason its understandable. It felt too safe seeing him live these past couple times last week
|
| |
Most of his most offensive stuff was to piss off conservatives and Republicans who don't have nearly as much cultural relevance anymore. Also it would be kinda weird if he still tried really hard to be edgy in his 50s. I honestly can't remember the last offensive song he made. Maybe I Want To Kill You and that was like 2009. He's been very tame for a long time
|
| |
Cant disagree w most of that
|
| |
He could tell edgily intelligent things.
|
| |
I'm okay with seeing Manson mellowed out at his live shows. He's focusing on his vocals more and he's still vibing to the songs. Can't say I miss him kicking his band mates or cutting himself with his knife mic.
|
| |
I hope he raps on the new album
|
| |
The third track has been posted around, and was taken off YouTube, but it’s on TikTok
https://www.tiktok.com/@thekingdomcore/video/7405193302372322593
|
| |
Sounds straight up like a cut off Antichrist Superstar. He hasn’t sounded like that or written a song like that since 1996 and it sounds insanely good. Probably my least favorite of the 3 tracks but it sounds great
|
| |
Brabiz saving the day. I've been hunting for this song for days, glad I can finally stop
Song is 7/10
|
| |
yeah it really reminded me of Antichrist (which was pretty surprising) but in a pretty shallow gimmicky way
|
| |
Thank you Brabiz.
|
| |
Every time he’s tried to replicate that energy, he’s failed, but this track really nails that feel 100%. Vocals too are spot on. A bit of an okay song, but it has me eager to hear whatever else he has up his sleeve for this album
|
| |
It's good but if you listen to Antichrist, that fucking album just feels like a genuinely caustic moment in time and trying to replicate it at this point just feels like a total misstep. I hope the rest of the album has more Pale Emperor energy, but I'm sure it will be solid
|
| |
Personally, I really love what he’s doing on Raise The Red Flag. It manages to be mature sounding, while also having a lot of energy. I also think it’s very different from anything else he’s done. So I’d love it if that reflected a majority of the new material. Definitely down for the Antichrist stuff too. I don’t think this song clashes with the other singles. Whereas on the last 2 albums, the heavy tracks felt out of place
|
| |
Flag sounds almost identical to GAOG which I know you dislike. Surprised you dig it so much. Can't wait for the full album
|
| |
Third track has a total little horn vibe going on for sure
|
| |
Come on man, Little Horn sounded like a man about to die. This shit is not comparable
|
| |
I meant more like the driving guitar riff throughout
|
| |
that's fair
|
| |
“The third track has been posted around, and was taken off YouTube, but it’s on TikTok”
Wow, this sounds like a cut straight out of Antichrist.
|
| |
To me, GAOG is too silly sounding, and i find a lot of the hooks to be obnoxious. Flag has some big melodies going on that i really dig. It’s nice to hear him doing some more refined and focused melodies
|
| |
Yeah, GAOG has his best production and some of the strongest instrumental songwriting, but the cringiest hooks and lyric writing he’s ever done imo.
|
| |
It’s always frustrated the hell out of me because he sounds great on that album, but it’s in service of what that album is. Seems like such a waste. I thoroughly enjoy the albums after, but I wish he went a different direction for that album, while he was in his prime
|
| |
Like half the songs on that one are meh but the other half slay. Fist, Kaboom, Paranoir, and the singles all kill
|
| |
Those are literally my 3 favorite songs off of there
|
| |
yeah, cause they're the best on there.
That album could have been better but I think it was one of the first 5 records I ever bought so it holds a special place in my heart. Speaking of which... Spade rules too, Slutgarden as well
|
| |
The New Shit was such a moment man... the lipstick and toe-sucking, "ARE YOU MOTHERFUCKERS READY", that shit went so hard
|
| |
Tyler Bates has returned
WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK
|
| |
Tyler Bates. Tyler Bate is a wrestler lol
|
| |
MY PHONE AUTOCORRECTED A FUCKING NAME LOL
(Tyler Bate is a solid wrestler tho)
|
| |
hahaha
|
| |
“It’s always frustrated the hell out of me because he sounds great on that album, but it’s in service of what that album is. Seems like such a waste. I thoroughly enjoy the albums after, but I wish he went a different direction for that album, while he was in his prime”
Definitely mate. Everything was there for the taking, but he misses the mark on his end, despite sounding great vocally. Think he must have burnt out after the triptych albums
|
| |
>"ARE YOU MOTHERFUCKERS READY"
So cheese and so dope at the same time.
I still don't really know how I feel about that album coming off the two rippers prior, but that's the tour where I got to see him live at Ozzfest after Adema and before POD (I think) and just remember how much he slayed that shit. Seeing all the manson girls with shit carved into their arms was wild to me as a sixteen-year-old.
|
| |
"Seeing all the manson girls with shit carved into their arms was wild to me as a sixteen-year-old." The early 2000s were insane. Honestly, I do still enjoy GAOG quite a bit but it was kind of jarring coming off of Holy Wood which I would argue was peak Manson. I still enjoy it but it's kind of just dumb reckless fun
|
| |
You got it over MA?
I always just think of The Fight Song when I think of that album. What a fuckin' ripper.
|
| |
asking the hardest question ever lol. MA vs HW, I will be asking myself that until the day I die. Re: The Fight Song, how do you not just start punching everything within eyesight when that riff kicks in
|
| |
Golden Age is so underrated. It's easily his best album
|
| |
It's fun but his best one..? Let's not go crazy
|
| |
Antichrist
Mechanical
Portrait
Holywood
Golden age
Pale emp
Heaven
We are chaos
Born villain
High end
Eat me
|
| |
Seeing eat me at the bottom of the list is sickening. I hope you’re proud of yourself.
|
| |
dude, when that album came out I fucking hated it so much. It was 100% on the bottom, but it eventually grew on me a bit. It just took a while to get past the Hot-Topic vibe
|
| |
it's a bit angsty, but there's some solid songs on it. I actually find born villain to be his worst these days.
i might do a dr diagnosis on manson, because i've not listened to a lot of his albums in years; be interesting to see what my opinion is on them all now.
|
| |
yeah Born Villain is the worst. Haven't checked it in forever cause it was so underwhelming. Eat Me definitely had some strong tracks, just it has that ick factor with Evan and it was super weird getting so many love/obsession songs when that was never his thing. Really liked Tim Skold's influence, his solos really spiced things up. Red Carpet Grave was a career highlight for Manson imo
|
| |
Eat me, drink me is very good album.
It's the kind of album that would require a "reset" of the grades.
Or a second average, five years after release.
|
| |
honestly everything after least we forget 'retirement' didn't do anything for me until pale emperor. don't think i've heard heart shaped glasses in full just like putting holes in happiness or whatever that single was, on release I was too neck deep into bdm to take it seriously lol. I know I gave born villain a shot annnd was fairly tame considering Twiggy's return
|
| |
literally forgot Twiggy was on that. Emperor was definitely the best thing he's done in past 20 years
|
| |
High End of Low is underrated, not GAOG. That shit is overrated af
|
| |
Yeah lest we forget - pale emperor you can keep. Eat me drink me was a embarrassment when it first dropped and still is ha
|
| |
Theres clearly a reason shit off eat me/high end/born villain doesn’t get played ever live—its bc those records suck
|
| |
High End is ok, it had some great tracks but he was such a hot mess at that point. I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies was certainly a moment...
|
| |
If manson stays on this current track w all this momentum then this will be the largest course correction ive ever personally witnessed
|
| |
for real. That was not on my bingo card for 2024
|
| |
Now that we're past the wall of *****, let's say it again. Eat me, Drink me, is a very good album.
"Theres clearly a reason shit off eat me/high end/born villain doesn’t get played ever live—its bc those records suck"
You're mistaking a consequence for a cause. What's played live isn't necessarily what is good but what is popular. If an album is hated and underrated, it's not very likely to find a spot in concert. Anyway.
|
| |
it was good but didn't touch Holy Wood or anything that came before
|
| |
Eat Me, Drink Me is a great record. When Manson is playing shit like Say10 and mOBSCENE live, I think we can throw any correlation between what is played live and what is quality out the window.
|
| |
Never got into Eat Me, but I genuinely enjoy High End. My friend showed me the third single(?) and it’s surprisingly heavy. Interested to see how the whole record turns out
|
| |
Eat Me is a mid record but Red Carpet and T/T are insane tracks, god-tier shit. New record is going to turn out excellent. Spoilers
|
| |
Front towards enemy is a banger too
|
| |
Thats the third track off the single
|
| |
he's 3 for 3 on this one. Impressive
|
| |
“When Manson is playing shit like Say10 and mOBSCENE live, I think we can throw any correlation between what is played live and what is quality out the window.”
Shit i loved Say10. Love that song
|
| |
Yeah the set is really heavy and in your face rn. The way it should be.
|
| |
Deep six with two guitars 🤤
|
| |
Just needs a rap verse.
|
| |
Damn, Front Towards Enemy is great. Honestly makes stuff like Born Villain feel even more limp in comparison. In terms of production, especially. The chorus sounds really full.
|
| |
I thought I outgrew him but these are really good
|
| |
