This band should definitely just call it quits
| |
The fact that it's from the Meteora days gives me a little hope that it might be at least decent
| |
it's a 20 year old song my brother in christ
| |
if its sat in a vault for 20 years from one of their most loved periods, its probably unfinished/not very good/stinky/some variation or combination of the previous
| |
genuinely stunned that LP did not already have an album song called Lost
| |
"its sat in a vault for 20 years from one of their most loved periods, its probably unfinished/not very good/stinky/some variation or combination of the period"
remember people sayin this about She Couldn't and that song's fuckin great so idk. not gonna automatically write this off personally
| |
The teaser snippet sounded solid
| |
Surprised this hasn't come up yet in one of the LP underground CDs they used to make
| |
"This band should definitely just call it quits"
From band's wiki:
"In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future."
So yeah, shut it
| |
get em' tim!

get L O S T nerd

They don't want to keep going without Chester. I can't blame them at all. There is no telling how much material they are sitting on they can work at their own pace to remaster or flesh out if they feel inclined to. I'll be interested and listen to whatever they decide to release from their vault but I am not a fan of them treating it like new material with a rollout and hyping it up.
| |
Looking forward to it
| |
A what??? I bet the nostalgia will hit many of us really hard.
| |
probably wont be good but the meteora connection will undoubtedly force me to give it a listen
| |
damn what a surprise
| |
Hope it’s good. No roads left was a bonus track from hybrid theory and it’s still one of my favorites of theirs
| |
I thought no roads left was on Minutes to Midnight?
| |
It’s a bonus track and is kinda a b side from hybrid theory since that’s when they wrote it
| |
wild

Hearing Chester in 2023 hurts my heart. I miss the glory days of Linkin Park
| |
I don't know. I think if they're really deadset on not moving on without Chester (which I completely understand), I wish they'd stop regurgitating past material like this. The fact that it's as old as it is gives me the same concerns it gives Mort.
| |
They're releasing shit from the vault for their fans because there is never going to be *new* music. I'm sure there are people out there who would absolutely love to hear old outtakes and the band might even make a little money off it. Not sure why this is controversial in the least.
| |
@Sitar - I'm not hating on the band, honestly. If it makes the fans happy and helps the guys out in their own lives, I'm all for it. Tbh I hadn't really considered your stance before today.
| |
The headline makes it sound like a much bigger deal than it is.
| |
gotta have a catchy headline
| |
Idk that teaser sounded pretty cool, so I'm stoked.
| |
METEORA PT 2 IS ON IT'S WAY BOYS
| |
holy smokes I can’t wait!
actually sounds alright
| |
Their new Discord channel is balls
| |
100% reasons to give it a rest Mike
| |
"This band should definitely just call it quits"
when did they come back?
| |
pretty excited for this one.
hybrid is the better record, but i have more nostalgia and love for meteroa
| |
"genuinely stunned that LP did not already have an album song called Lost"
Clearly they did, 20 years ago, it just didn't make the cut.
| |
I'm down to check it out. Makes me wonder if they have any outtakes sitting around from the Hybrid Theory or the era before it. If they do I would love to hear them

Have you listened to all the stuff from the Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary edition?
| |
I have not! I'll have to do that though asap. I'd seen it existed but assumed it was just a remaster
| |
I heard that chorus come and .. i.. swear that's already a LP song isn't it lmao
| |
song is great
| |
song is ok, video is demonic.
| |
its called stable diffusion and its [AI] art
| |
Song is very ok. Bit surreal to hear new Chester again though.
| |
Pretty good
| |
I can see why it didn't make it onto the album back then but I'd also take it over most of what they've released since. Definitely hits right in the nostalgia
| |
Eww AI art
Song is decent for the most part. Very industrial-tinged so it sounds very similar to their best stuff
| |
Song is pretty good, I like the synth and chester sounds great, especially in the chorus
| |
it's an innocent song, nothing amazing, not terrible. Good to hear as a big LP fan in the meteora days
| |
@tim
Damn, did I hurt your feelings man? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to offend you simply with my opinion. Won't happen again
| |
Good song y’all ready know
| |
Pretty decent song. I had to scroll through the comments for a minute to get to one in English. Was kinda surprised by that lol
| |
A good song immediately sullied by the AI "art"
| |
I messed around with one of those AI art apps that had like 8 different art styles as options and typed in weird shit and got cool results especially with typing Lovecraft and Dan Seagrave in. Not gonna lie though the idea of AI art scares me for the future of artists. Would hate to see it take over. Was kind of shocked by how similar the Seagrave ones looked to something he would have done
| |
"Not gonna lie though the idea of AI art scares me for the future of artists. Would hate to see it take over."
Agreed. I think Linkin Park of all people can afford to hire an animator.
| |
Reminds me of Breaking the Habit and Easier to Run, pretty good song.
| |
the visuals were cool, i thought
| |
Wow that song was not good
| |
"Song is very ok. Bit surreal to hear new Chester again though."
[2]
| |
this would easily be the weakest song on Meteora if it was on
| |
LOVE IT
| |
this ai art video is trash
| |
oh god Periphery just announced an ai art video too
| |
Pretty uninteresting from a songwriting perspective but I enjoyed it just because of all the linkin parkisms
| |
The video deserved the same treatment as Breaking the Habit... with a real animator. The AI style looks whack.
Great song though. Chester sounds great on the chorus. Still sad that he's gone.
| |
This song is heartbreaking. when Chester sings lines like "I will always be afraid" and "I will never be alright" you can hear the defeat and brokenness in his voice; he knows it's true, ke knows that one day he will inevitably lose the battle w/ his demons. Had this actually come out in 03, it would have been a long, morbid foreshadowing. There's no glimmer of hope in the lyrics, there's no underlying hope embedded to suggest he still has the strength to keep going. It's surreal he kept going as long as he did. What a tortured soul he had, may he rest in peace
