No thanks.

This made me throw-throw-throw-throw-throw up
|
| |
AOTY incoming.
|
| |
Seems right up my street tbh.

1. Those drums sound like they were borrowed from Imagine Dragons.
2. I've never heard "out" pronounced with an "e" in it before.
3. Is the entire concept literally just someone being tongue-tied, but we're treating it like someone's liberating their entire identity by not being shy? Why does this feel angsty then?
4. "Are you stuck inside your head like you're stuck inside my head? / Cut the line" Uhhh... okay. *blocked*
4.5 I misheard. ".. like I'm stuck inside my head." But what line is he even talking about? Like... a grocery store line? If you're stuck somewhere, wouldn't you need a line, like a through-way? Or does it just sound more rebellious to disavow loneliness somehow?
5. "Are you stumbling with your words? / I wish you would just make a sound." Wait, what? Why are they having trouble being coherent and responding entirely? Are they drugged up or something? Are they actually dead and you're talking to ghosts?
6. "Is it something that you hide? Are you twisted up and don't know why?" If you're hiding it, then you know what it is. Unless he's talking about childhood trauma being repressed? But then the person wouldn't be tongue-tied because it'd be subconscious... ?
7. OH, WE'RE GOING HEAVY FOR THE THIRD VERSE, HUH? HUH!? (It was the best part of the song, but you can tell they saved it for the third verse because doing a whole song of that riff would get old fast.)
8. OH MY GOD, THAT OUTRO IS ALMOST AS HEAVY AS SLIPKNOT.
Overall, Ego Trip fails as a skateboarding game, with a nonsensical story, broken physics, and repetitive gameplay. 3/10

infest is terrible but still miles better than whatever this is
|
| |
i also announce ego trip
|
| |
Album artwork is like a car crash - it's one of the worst I've ever seen, and yet I can't stop looking at it
|
| |
wha wha wha what the hell is this production
|
| |
catchy song
|
| |
This song will be huge in 2003
|
| |
This album is going to be interesting, given that Kill the Noise is their best song in years while Swerve is probably their worst song ever
Also what the hell is that album art
|
| |
I used to jam Infest growing up all the way through high school. I feel like I can sing the melodies to the choruses based on the song titles alone. Why is everything this band does so "standard"
|
| |
3 out of the 5 singles released so far have been straight fire, with the other 2 still being pretty damn good.
I'm expecting big things from this album, but it's great to see that, barring a huge fireball of a disaster, this will be significantly better than WDYT?
|
| |
Why do they still exist
|
| |
This album cover is horrendous
|
| |
lmao that album art
|
| |
NFT album art
|
| |
Honestly Pups album art is pretty similar and people "like it"
|
| |
Well its better than their last album at least. But this band really hasn't changed in the past 15 years or so.
|
| |
"NFT album art"
Too accurate lol
|
| |
Will always appreciate Infest.
|

I miss when rock didn't sound plastic, overproduced and fake. Autotuned vocals(check) Time aligned sampled drums(check) shitty digital sounding guitars(check)
|
| |
Pretty inoffensive and catchy. Not for me but I'm sure itll get a bit of radio play
|
| |
i actually like this lol
|
| |
/goes back to jamming the paramour sessions
|
| |
"Well its better than their last album at least. But this band really hasn't changed in the past 15 years or so."
I would argue that that there's bit quite a bit of change in their sound over that period, particularly the last two albums (for better or for worse). Obviously no genre-bending changes, but some definitely shifts in direction.
"I miss when rock didn't sound plastic, overproduced and fake. Autotuned vocals(check) Time aligned sampled drums(check) shitty digital sounding guitars(check)"
Calm down dad.

'I miss when rock didn't sound plastic, overproduced and fake. Autotuned vocals(check) Time aligned sampled drums(check) shitty digital sounding guitars(check)'
Completely legit criticism.
It's not a boomer criticism, it's 100% on the money.
|

but really I came here to say...
CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES!
|
| |
love this song still. so catchy. never thought id be into a papa roach song, they were cringe when i was 12
|
| |
I’ve heard the singles now and this is gonna be the best Papa Roach album since Paramour Sessions.
|
| |
So, I am excited.
|
| |
Whole band channeling their inner Fred Durst.
|
| |
"I’ve heard the singles now and this is gonna be the best Papa Roach album since Paramour Sessions."
If the whole album holds the same quality as the singles, this will be easy 4.5+ territory. F.E.A.R. is my favourite post-Paramour album but this looks potentially ready to top that.

list

Swerve is so much fun but idk if the rest of this album is gonna be that good, I haven't liked much else I've heard from it
