Fucking awesome.

Solid

decent, hope this album is good
(lol the slowly diminishing levels of hype in the first three comments)

I just don’t know about the vocals in the high registers man. I’m not sure if it’s production choices because he is hitting all the notes comfortably but it’s lost a bit of grit.
|
| |
The production is kind of weird. It's really flat and I think it's throwing the vocal sound off a bit. At first I wanna say it's Rody but the more I listen the more I think he actually sounds on point.
Anyway, I like the song, it got better with repeated listens just like the last one.
|
| |
Where should I start with this band?
|
| |
I feel the same about the production, the guitars sound flat/cheap imo.
|
| |
@kalk you can really go no wrong as a starting point with these guys. They are very consistent. My personal favorite will always remain Fortress though.
|
| |
I liked this significantly more than the first.
@kalk I started with Volition I think and really got into them with Pacific Myth but a lot of people really enjoy their old stuff. Not sure there is a "best" place
|
| |
all of their albums are unreal. fortress is next level though
|
| |
If it doesn't matter where to start then I'll just go chronologically. Thanks!
|
| |
Production sounds fine. They just mixed the bass higher and I like it.
Amazing song. This album will rule.
|
| |
The guitars sound a little flat/digital to me, but the song is great.
|
| |
@Kalk, keep in mind they made Kezia when they were like 17-19!
It is a phenomenal album, *especially* considering their age. It's also worth a blind listen, then listening again after reading the intended story of the album before other listens. Knowing the concept, and listening to it in order adds a LOT!
|
| |
Loving the guitars but damn those vocals at the end are obnoxious
|
| |
Really dig this one. Huge props to Rody for basically learning to sing all over again.
|
| |
the vocals take a few seconds of adjustment each listen but after that it all sounds great, especially considering what Rody went through
|
| |
bad
|
| |
Really dont know what to think about these first 2 singles, on the fence with both
|
| |
lol so fucking bad. rody is a terrible vocalist. chiodos-levels of bad
|
| |
Agreed the vocals sound weird.. some notes boom out way above the others. Sounds like the vocals were recorded in a less than perfect room, and the room modal frequencies are making the vocal boom like that. I've had that problem b4
|
| |
He was a great vocalist on the previous records. You might not enjoy the tone to his voice, but he was a great vocalist.
These new tracks though...I really want to like what he's doing, seeing the guy had to learn to sing all over again, but as for now I just don't get used to them
|
| |
i haven't jammed these guys in years and the last time that i actually did i didnt dig their sound at all anymore but this might be a new beginning.
|
| |
The singles have sounded weird to me. It seems like the songwriting is a little all over the place and less focused than before. Pacific Myth had some insane highs (especially Caravan) but saw them move away from some of the tighter, punchier aspects of their sound and into a lot of wank. This seems like it is continuing on that path. That being said, I am still super eager to hear the whole thing and I wouldn't consider any of their projects to be bad. This single is a step up from the first one and, hot damn, what an ending.
|
| |
the production seems incredibly flat... it's as if everything has been toned down. these guitars should be hitting you in the face but they're barely managing a timid caress...
|
| |
Actually I kind of like this vocal approach he is doing more than the last couple albums. There is actually some dynamics going on. The production does feel pretty flat though.
|
| |
It would be better if the guitars were more bolder in the mix but I don’t think that automatically makes this song bad. Also Rody has matured his style and puts great emotion into these new songs which is a step-up. On RYM this is their highest rated track so people saying it’s bad because of the mix are just butt hurt lmao
|
| |
Lol going by track ratings on rym. Especially on a song that just came out.
|
| |
What's so wrong about trusting first great impressions? These new songs also need repeated listens because PTH have crafted something different and special here.
Doing something new doesn't automatically make music bad is what I'm saying lol.
Rody sings differently and even better than before on these tracks. He doesn't need to scream to make it any better than it is.
|
| |
I’m just saying mostly fans are going to go out of their way to rate a single on rym, kinda like how ratings for live albums are generally higher because mostly fans of the band rate it.
|
| |
Between this and Misery Signals... Full on nostalgia love. I'm 35 with a 25 y/o hard on.
|
| |
The criticism in here is pretty tame. I don't think the fanboy level defense is called for, Shadow.
|
| |
Lol yeah not a lot of people are claiming these new tracks are utter shite at all
Sit down, Neko
|
| |
This one has really stuck with me. The last minute is an incredible performance, I always have to hear it just one more time
