AFI Album Details 2009-08-21 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 34 Comments |
AFI will release Crash Love on September 29 via DCG/Interscope.
Frontman Davey Havok said: "I am so proud of this record. I really believe it's the best AFI record. It honestly feels like we've made our first truly timeless record. We didn't set out to do that--you can't set out to do something like that--but it definitely feels like that's what we've achieved: created the album by which we'll be remembered."
The album was co-produced by Joe McGrath (Green Day, Alkaline Trio) and Jacknife Lee (REM, U2).
Tracklist:
1. Torch Song
2. Beautiful Thieves
3. End Transmission

I'm still disconcerted by the lackluster artwork
|
| |
Seriously, do bands just read the same stuff for each album? You know, the "I am so proud of this record.... blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda" quotes.
I kid you not, I saw almost the identical words from Story of the Year yesterday.
I'm still interested to see them live in February, no matter what the album is like.
|
| |
It was also announced that Gallows are opening for them on the entire tour.
|
| |
Nearly word for word the same blurb every frontman oozes on the eve of a new release.
|
| |
Havok looks exactly like a girl I went to high school with. Says more about him than the girl.
|
| |
this will suck, which makes me sad because Sing the Sorrow is coming very close to becoming my favorite album.
|
| |
I will be extremely pleased but ridiculously surprised if this comes close to Sing The Sorrow, and that's not even their best album. I miss 90's era AFI.

purple pants
|
| |
my favorite band throughout high school and probably still my favorite band, however I do not have high hopes for this record
I DO however have tickets to both the clifton park and sayreville shows... epic live band
|
| |
have they ever released "Ether"?
|
| |
i listened to ATASF this week, ahh the good old AFI days
I've pretty much lost any small amount of hope i had for this album being any sort of hark back to their old ways.
|
| |
"have they ever released "Ether"?"
my guess is it will be released eventually, it probably just didn't make the album cut.
|
| |
I remain out of countenance by the album's prosaic integument
|
| |
Darling, I Want To Destroy You
|
| |
and sorry Davey you guys will be remembered for Black Sails, AOD and STS
|
| |
I have already (perhaps unfairly) written this album off as a bust. It'll be a shame when this comes out and sucks.
|
| |
hoping it wont suck.
artwork's not promising though
|
| |
I DO however have tickets to both the clifton park and sayreville shows... epic live band
Live in Jersey? I've seen them at Starland, when Davey stepped into the crowd during God Called In Sick Today I supported his foot during the chorus.
|
| |
davey i want to believe you so bad but you said very similar things about decemberunderground.
nonetheless, i have my head held high.
|
| |
There's also various (short) previews of 'Medicate' looming the internet- the higher quality ones are actually rather good.
An example, from a ringtone store: http://mediamall.wireless.att.com/sf/storefront/endUserHTMLDesc.jsp?id=CF220477&pc=U&dc=

"Live in Jersey? I've seen them at Starland, when Davey stepped into the crowd during God Called In Sick Today I supported his foot during the chorus"
Epic I was there when they played on mischief night
and yeah the tour dates are screwed up... clifton park is in NY not NJ the venue is right by my school, then im driving to jersey to catch them at the starland show
|
| |
Ether didn't make the album because its a Decemberunderground outtake, not Crash Love. It was released through some video game, but its supposed to be more officially released through an EP, but the EP has been put on hold until sometime after the release of Crash Love

| |
boring band
|
| |
hmm, still no word that they're going to change the lousy artwork?
|
| |
Just saw the artwork, might beat Dying Fetus to the "2009 Worst Cover Award".
I think my hopes for the album don't need explaining.
|
| |
The titles of the songs suck. Whatever happened to awesome song titles like "God Called In Sick Today"??
|
| |
Lol @ photo
|

Epic I was there when they played on mischief night
Dude, what was I thinking, we were there together... I forgot you got a new account haha.
|
| |
Gay cover art should be stoned like a gay
|
| |
now now, don't be vulgar.
|
| |
So...i heard the lead single Medicate right? It...may... suprise.
I was dazzled.
|
| |
It'll play on KROQ in about an hour and fifteen minutes. Hopefully it'll be decent.
|
| |
Just aired on KROQ.
Kickass song. First thing that's making me excited for this album.
|
| |
So Medicate is pretty decent, album still has hope.
