Every Time I Die Drummer Quits

2009-06-30 by ataraxia01 | 36 Comments
Drummer Mike "Ratboy" Novak has parted ways with Every Time I Die due to "personal conflicts."

Novak released the following statement to online news sources: "I have officially quit Every Time I Die due to personal conflicts. I feel like im getting myself out of an uncomfortable, unhealthy situation, and it's for the best for everyone, and I'm ready to move on with my life.

"I still plan to play and be involved in music and am looking for a new project to pursue. This is a new exciting chapter in my life and hope anyone who has enjoyed me as a person/drummer in this band for the last 11 years, sticks with me for whatever endeavor the future brings me. Thanks to all the ETID fans throughout the years."

Not Ratboy!! I'm going to pretend he was playing the hero role and quit because Pete Wentz is singing on the new one.

Wow ETID always seemed to me like a bunch of cool dudes that would be awesome to be in a band with. Maybe not, I'm guessing personal conflicts means he had a fallout with one of the other members.

I wasn't that surprised seeing how in the dvd the vocalist and the guitar players are always seen chilling but the drummer always seemed away from the rest of the band

I wonder what the future of ETID will be, if they're gonna break up or just get a new drummer.

"because Pete Wentz is singing on the new one."

Are you bangin' me?

Heck, they were supposed to be a brotherhood, united by beer and all... Oh well, then again, it's none of the guitar players or Keith. That said, i'm not that concerned.

Btw, I have read the previous comments: is Pete Wentz doing guest vocals on their next album? GOD HELL NO SIREE!

The Pete Wentz thing really shouldn't be a big deal. I HATE Fall Out Boy and I REALLY HATE Pete Wentz but who the hell cares. Obviously I haven't heard the song yet but he is probably just doing back up vocals that you won't even know is him. The guy from My Chemical Romance was on "Kill The Music" and none of my friends knew until I told them. I have confidence ETID is going to make an album that slays just like all of their others.

Well what does having these fools in your song do? It's just using them to get more rep, like HEY LOOK I'M FRIENDS WITH THE GUY FROM THIS BIG BAND. I never liked ETID and I hate both FOB and MCR so, whatever.

They're friends. And from what I've heard way before either of those bands we're even remotely successful. When the dude from MCR was on Gutter Phenomenon (which came out in 05 and was recorded earlier obviously) those guys weren't at the level they were eventually. And I believe it was said in an interview somewhere along the line that Wentz met some of them before Fall Out Boy or in the very early stages of that band.

The guy from Glassjaw was on Gutter, Alexisonfire was on Big Dirty, and Greg from Dillinger is supposed to sing on a new track as well. Every Time I Die is arguably a bigger band than those and no one says a word. You can make up any idiotic statement and believe it if you try hard enough but that doesn't make it right.

Not to linger or argue - ISIS is one of my favorite bands and you have Wavering Radiant rated as a 4 - well since the guy from Tool was on it does that mean "HEY LOOK I'M FRIENDS WITH THE GUY FROM THIS BIG BAND"?

Well they have an influence from Tool. And I don't see any MCR or FOB influence in ETID.

Tool is also a lot more talented than MCR or FOB lol.

I didn't say anything talent wise whatsoever. You know it's pretty much the exact circumstance "influence" or not. Is that the new unwritten rule: collaborations ONLY with bands in which influence you? Like I said man, I HATE FOB/Pete Wentz so I'm not sticking up for them in anyway - but you can't even legitimately back up your statement.

....There is a difference between having a guest from a band that has influenced you in the past and just getting a big name to be a guest on your album. Nobody can say that Isis or ETID did that with their guest appearances but I would say ETID would be way more likely because of their attitude and fans.

You're still failing to make any point. Because of "their attitude and fans" is one of the dumbest remarks I have ever heard. So now you're saying that their fans and attitude are the reason that Every Time I Die have a BACK UP VOCAL part on a new album? Do you think that they are going to put Fall Out Boy on the fucking cover of the new album or something? Is it going to be "Every Time I Die and Pete Wentz (FROM FALL OUT BOY) present - "New Junk Aesthetic"? Wild guess would say it's in the booklet of the CD that most people aren't going to buy or read...

And TNY: Great statement concerning "Bros" from the kid who has Avenged Sevenfold listed as a favorite.

This article's responses alone easily proves the complete ignorance of SOME of Sputnik's users.

I found that Rat Boy didn't have the same personalities as Keith and Jordan, throughout the Shit Happens DVD, it seemed he was a little out of place. He's the most laid back. Sad to see him go!

A band's fans and attitude matter a lot. Some bands like to cater to fans. I don't give a fuck what you think, I was stating why I think it is stupid for them to have Pete Wentz on the album. He has no value to me, and the only fucking reason I could see them wanting him on the album is for his name in that scene.

"Every Time I Die and Pete Wentz (FROM FALL OUT BOY) present - "New Junk Aesthetic"

They FOB fans will see it like this. And boom ETID gets a bunch of 12 year old girls all over them. I'm done with this argument, you probably just troll this place to argue since you contribute nothing to the site and don't even rate music on here.

Ratboy also happens to be Straight Edge, as is Andy Williams. Could be that he didn't want to be around alcohol... Cause it looks like Jordan does love the sauce.

You certainly are done this argument in which you never proved a point besides the complete ignorance you have with music. And trying to call me a "troll" based on how much time I spend on the internet shows that this stupidity extends much past just music.
I don't have music ratings on account that I listen to bands/albums that I enjoy and refuse to give a bad rating to a piece of work that I don't have an interest in to begin with to level out my "Objectivity" like many of Sputnik's users do to make it look like they have some elite taste in music (not saying this is everyone but if you are rating Kidz Bop and shit you know what you're doing). Through sites like Sputnik/YouTube (or any other place to try out new music) it is quite easy to avoid garbage these days.
Congratulations on achieving absolutely nothing my friend.

Here's to hoping people stop bitching about bands releasing something "that sounds like ******". If a band just kept releasing the same album over and over people who care about music would get bored.
