Just finished my first listen, and I love it. I'm afraid people will complain that it sounds more like Kayo Dot than motW, but it's good music so I'm satisfied. "Laboratories" will probably please everyone though.

No, cuz I'll write a review and instead of everyone else writing one, they'll just talk about how gay mine was.

friggin awesome album so far. and way more close to the last two motW albums than any of Toby Driver's other stuff. not that this is metuhl, but much of it reminds me of the calmer moments of the "old" motW albums.
and the violin is amazing.

Don't expect it to sound like Pondering the Wall, or Heaven and Weak. More of a Undine, and Kayo Dot sound to it.

FLAC!!! Great album, does not sound exactly like ol' motW nor like Kayo Dot, and it is better than anything Toby has orchestrated since Choirs of the Eye.

warofalltime, just download the zip file of the mp3s, they want the higher quality ones on torrent because the download bandwidth on those would be huge otherwiseThis Message Edited On 05.14.09

well, for a start, having uTorrent (or whatever) and going to a torrent site doesn't make you criminal, exactly... but there IS a download link on there.

I kind of like this more than their most of their heavier material. Actually, I like this a lot more than most of their heavier material.

The mp3 files sound fine, but the CD-standard files sound a lot better. Still a bit too lazy to go through the process of converting FLAC files as of now, but I'm sure they sound fantasticThis Message Edited On 05.14.09

Thanks to everybody who's trying to help for starters! But I'm pretty computer stupid, haha. I don't even have one of those Zip programs to deal with compressed files - so my fault for not making things clear. It's not so much as me not wanting to be a criminal as much as dealing with all these programs, so any other ideas are still welcome!! Thanks in advance.

Dowsing Anenome is overratedddd.

Bath > Choirs of the Eye > This > Leaving Your Body Map ≥ My Fruit Psychobells > all other Toby Driver stuff

TheGreatD17

It's not overrated, most people think Choirs of the Eye is better. And we'll have to agree to seriously disagree about the order.

I'm finding it really hard to get into Kayo Dot, however, bath and leaving your body map instantly appealed to me.

in my opinion, choirs is the ultimate in toby driver material. It's a perfect blend of what makes both kayo dot and maudlin great. This is pretty great too though, gonna have to give it a couple more listens before I decide on a rating

anyone know if maudlin is gonna release a hard copy of these any time soon?

Avirov
May 15th 2009
1206 Comments

Probably not. This album funded by fans so that they could give it away for free. It would eliminate the point to release.

However, the torrent files are cd-quality files, so just burn those to a disc, print the art, and stick it in a case and you have your own hard copy!

NortherlyNanook
May 15th 2009
1286 Comments

yeah, but a decent amount of people would still be willing to shell out money (and it could just be enough to print/distribute) for vinyls. it's not as if a vinyl would be the only way for people to obtain the album.

Avirov
May 15th 2009

A vinyl release would be pretty cool. But I think TD and Matsumiya are probably preoccupied with preparing the new Kayo Dot.
